Las Vegas spies said the hip-hop mogul’s in talks with the Las Vegas Sands Corp. - owners of the Venetian and the Palazzo - to sell them a 50 percent stake in his sports club, 40/40, for $44 million. An insider added, “That will make the 40/40 club in Vegas the largest sports booking operation. People can gamble both at the tables and on games. The Sands will also have the right to open 40/40 clubs in London and across Europe.” A rep for 40/40 didn’t return calls.

AFTER a night of red carpet glamour at the Metropolitan Museum, newlyweds Beyoncé and Jay-Z headed out for burgers and fries. “Pop Burger had just closed,” said a source. “There was a loud knock on the door, and Jay and Bey, who was still in her ball gown, were at the door with their Maybach waiting.” The East 58th Street spot opened its doors and bagged up cheeseburgers and fries, which the famished duo took to go.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are mum, but their paperwork is doing the talking for them: The couple filed their signed wedding license Friday in Scarsdale, N.Y., PEOPLE has confirmed exclusively.

Scarsdale Town Clerk Donna Conkling tells PEOPLE the license – which lists the wedding date as April 4 – was received on Friday afternoon. The couple applied for the license just three days before the ceremony attended by friends and family, including Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles, her father/manager Mathew, her sister Solange, her Destiny’s Child pals Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and the couple’s friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Although the couple’s license was filed more than five days after the wedding – as required by law – Conkling tells PEOPLE it’s expected to be processed with the state without a penalty. (No special celeb treatment here: Conkling says the penalty is frequently waived.)

Though sources confirmed the wedding to PEOPLE, the couple have remained silent about their nuptials. Shortly after the wedding, Beyonce was spotted with a ring while joining Jay-Z on tour, but neither of them have publicly stepped out with new jewelry.

After the rapper’s sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. Wednesday night, the inseparable duo headed to his private dinner and after-party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s Tropicana Bar. Neither wore a wedding ring, but in all other ways they were the picture of wedded bliss.

Knowles, 26, arrived just after 11 p.m. with Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams by her side – and her groom just a few steps behind, letting her lead the way. They headed upstairs to the “bridge” above the Tropicana Bar where they held their private dinner for 40 friends and family catered by the hotel’s upscale steakhouse, Dakota.

Jay-Z, 38, stayed by Knowles’s side all night – only slipping away for a few minutes to change from his concert clothes into a dapper dark suit.

When he returned, Beyoncé – who, sources say, was joined by her mom Tina and sister Solange – cuddled up next to her man at one of the many large long tables set up for the private dinner.

At several points during the dinner, Knowles wrapped her arms around the rapper and rubbed his back. At other times, she would lean her head against his shoulder and hold him tightly. “She looked as if she never wanted to let him go,” said an onlooker.

Guests including Christina Aguilera and Mary J. Blige – who swung by after hitting her own bash at Hollywood’s Ritual Supper – all feasted on a four-course menu from Dakota, including options like tuna carpaccio, Maine lobster, braised short rib cannelloni, diver scallops, lamb and filet. The group also partied their way through many bottles of tequila and red wine.

The large party relaxed to tunes by DJ Samantha Ronson, who was accompanied by BFF Lindsay Lohan. (At one point, the actress came by to pay her respects to the happy couple.) As the night wore on, the whole crew chilled by the Roosevelt pool until just past 2 a.m.

Beyoncé happily flashed a whopping hunk of diamond on her left-hand ring finger Tuesday night at her new husband’s concert with Mary J. Blige at Atlanta’s Phillips Arena.

Wearing a short black dress and big hoop earrings, the newlywed singer sat in a VIP area with buddy Usher. The two leapt to their feet to groove hard when Jay-Z launched into his hit “PSA,” with its lyrics, “I got the hottest chick in the game wearing my chain.”

Usher threw up the diamond Roc sign, while Beyoncé showed off a telltale diamond rock of her own and waved her arms to the beat.

During the show, Beyoncé also relaxed backstage on a plush red couch, sporting shades and singing along to Blige’s songs as Jay-Z made last-minute costume changes.

On Monday night, Jay-Z celebrated without his wife – or a wedding ring – at his 40/40 club in Manhattan, where he cheered during the NCAA men’s basketball championship game with friends including rapper Tru Life.

Buzz is building that this weekend’s quickie nuptials were actually a shotgun wedding. It would be the second for the Knowles’ family: At just 17, Beyoncé’s little sis, Solange, wed boyfriend Daniel Smith in the Bahamas after learning she was pregnant.

While reps for both J and B are neither confirming nor denying baby talk, the diva has indicated in the past that she’d like a big family: “I want to get married, and I really want a family. In a perfect world I’d have two boys and a girl.”

There has been no real confirmation from the couple. However, on the day after the wedding Mary J. The couple’s parents joined a group of close celebrity pals, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, as well as Beyoncé’s bandmates in Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and her sister Solange.

Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – and 26-year-old Beyoncé applied for a marriage licence last Tuesday and married on Friday night.

They then threw a lavish party at Jay’s apartment in the fashionable New York district of TriBeCa.

A large white marquee was erected on the top of the building and audio-visual equipment, large flower arrangements and a 5ft tall candelabra were also brought in.

Celebrity florist Amy’s Orchids was hired to provide more than 50,000 white orchids from Thailand.

Guests – all the women wore white – were banned from bringing mobile phones inside and had to leave them with their chauffeurs.

A friend told People magazine late on Friday night: “It happened earlier this evening. Jay wanted it to be a really private affair – close friends and family.”

Earlier, Rowland and Williams had posted a video of themselves on YouTube from their room at the Four Seasons hotel in which they teased viewers that they were at an ‘undisclosed location’ and refused to say why they were making the flying visit to New York.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are creating a storm of news this Friday as it appears they are finally going to officially tie the knot. the pair picked up their marriage license the other day and today they have a tent, catering, gusts, and a reverend all coming together dressed in white.

At Beyonce’s midtown Manhattan apartment, her sister Solange — decked out in all white, including a skirt made from feathers — and Jay-Z’s mom, Gloria Carter, were spotted.
Beyonce’s father, Mathew, who wore a tux, was also spotted being whisked downtown in a blue Jaguar.

A day after applying for a marriage license with Beyoncé Knowles, Jay-Z got his party on after his show in Toronto. The hip-hop king had a private bash at downtown hot spot Lobby, where he had a blast chatting up guests and being surrounded by beautiful women.

Though a source told ET Canada that the celebration was merely an unofficial after-party for the concert, at least one observer says, “It looked like a bachelor party because soon the doors closed to all but the immediate guests. It was amazing how many girls were flirting with him, but he was just being nice to everyone.” As if Jay-Z’s week couldn’t get any bigger, the rapper is also expected to sign a 10-year, $150 million deal with concert promoter Live Nation early next week, according to the Associated Press. He reportedly will receive $25 million upfront and another $10 million each for at least three studio albums.

“I’ve turned into the Rolling Stones of hip-hop,” Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Corey Carter), 38, told The New York Times, in a front-page story Thursday, of the deal – which also includes $25 million for concert tours and $50 million to finance the rapper’s other investments.

I have a friend that works at the courthouse and she confirmed that the pair did come in for their license as advertised. We don’t get much in the way of paparazzi around here, but we are only 30 minutes north of New York City.

“It was just the two of them,” an eyewitness tells People. “They were very polite and smiling as they filled out the paperwork. They were holding hands for a while. They looked really happy.”

These two have been rumored to have been married so many times it’s crazy. I forget the exact rules, but I think the license is only valid for a few months before it has to be returned whether the couple ties the knot or not. That wedding will be a sight to see. Wonder if Beyonce’s mom is gonna make her dress?

Beyoncé Knowles and longtime beau Jay-Z have taken out a marriage license in Scarsdale, N.Y., PEOPLE has learned.

According to a source, the pair obtained a license Tuesday morning. The document is valid for 60 days.

A rep for Beyoncé told PEOPLE, “No comment.” Jay-Z’s spokesperson could not be reached.

Beyoncé, 26, and Jay-Z, 38, have been dating since 2002, though the couple have stood reluctant to discuss their relationship publicly. Rumors about their romance began circulating after the singer appeared on Jay-Z’s song “‘03 Bonnie & Clyde,” followed by collaborations on Beyoncé’s solo hit “Crazy in Love,” in 2003.

While the two have remained tight-lipped about the state of their romance, by no means has Beyoné brushed off talk of marriage. In December 2006, the singer told InStyle, “You can’t rush a man into anything – whether it’s a relationship, marriage or having children.”

Earlier that month the pair were besieged by rumors that they were all set to get hitched in the Caribbean – a rumor that was quickly scotched by their reps.

Sources said the hip-hop maverick (real name: Shawn Corey Carter), who just came out with the “American Gangster” soundtrack and part-owns the Spotted Pig, makes more money as an artist and entrepreneur than he does as a record executive. “Jay is focusing on opening five more 40/40 clubs,” a source said about Jay’s sports club which originated in New York. “He opened Las Vegas on New Year’s and up next are LA, Miami, Chicago, London and Houston. He’s also looking for hotel space in New York. He wants to open a chic, boutique hotel called The Jay. He just didn’t have time to be president of Def Jam.” A rep said, “Mr. Carter is still considering several opportunities.”

Jay-Z will be having lots more time to spend with Beyoncé this New Year’s, after it was announced Monday that he would be stepping down as president of Def Jam effective Jan. 1.

He took over the reins at the famed hip-hop factory in 2005, shortly after he announced his brief retirement from recording.

In announcing his departure, the 38-year-old hip-hop mogul said in a statement that it was time for him to “take on new challenges.”

During his two-year tenure, Jay-Z has signed the likes of Rihanna and Ne-Yo and overseen blockbuster releases by himself and Kanye West, eventually realizing he didn’t want to be out of the rapping game for good.

Vivendi-owned Universal Music, the parent of Def Jam, says the rapper will continue to record for the company’s Roc-a-Fella label, which he cofounded in 1996, long before becoming top dog.

“While he will continue to be one of our signature artists, he will nonetheless be missed in this executive capacity,” Island Def Jam Music Group chairman and CEO Andy “L.A.” Reid said in a statement. Jay-Z inked a reported $10 million deal in 2004 to replace outgoing pres Lyor Cohen, who decamped to take over Warner Music Group.

The “Hard Knock Life” rapper also founded several Roc-a-Fella spinoff companies, including a film production shingle and the Rocawear fashion label, which he sold in March for $204 million.

He owns the upscale 40/40 Club sports bars (named after the elite group of baseball players who have hit 40 homeruns and stolen 40 bases) in New York and Atlantic City. A Las Vegas location is opening Sunday in the newly built extension of the Venetian Hotel, the Palazzo. A new spot in Macau is on track to open in late 2008 or early 2009.

Last month, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, saw his latest album, American Gangster, open on top of the pop charts. That gave him 10 number one albums in 10 years and tied him with Elvis Presley for the most chart toppers by a solo artist. Hova and Presley trail only the Beatles, who have 19 number one albums.

He is up for five Grammy Awards, while he helped steer Def Jam to a total of 26 nods.

In August, Jay-Z was tapped as the top Hip-Hop Cash King by Forbes magazine, pocketing $34 million the previous year.

And although he’s hanging up his key to the executive washroom for now, Jay-Z said recently that he feels good about where the music industry is headed.

“As a person who is optimistic about hip-hop, I look at albums like American Gangster and Kanye West’s Graduation as albums that people can emulate, because they were made with nothing but the highest of integrity and passion about putting your all into the music,” he told billboard.com last week.

“People tend to emulate success, so hopefully they’ll emulate the blueprint of those albums, and we’ll have some great music.”

Rap mogul Jay-Z will reportedly be ditched by his Def Jam record company - because bosses are sick of his excessive demands.

The star - real name Shawn Carter - was reportedly keen to leave his post as president of Def Jam, a subsidiary of Universal, in favour of a new contract at Columbia, but new rumours suggest his current label may drop him first.

Rumours of a label change have been rife in the music industry after Jay-Z was reported to be unhappy with Def Jam following the appointment of producer/performer Jermaine Dupri as the president of their urban music division in February this year. But now the rapper could have the decision made for him as his contract with Universal is due to expire at the end of this month and negotiations for a renewal have so far proved unsuccessful.

A source tells New York Daily News, “People have lost count of how many times he’s come out of retirement.

“Everybody knows he’s not around the office much. Everybody at Universal loves him, but they can’t justify paying him the money he wants when so many people have been laid off”.

No over-the-top birthday bash for Jay-Z this year. Instead the rapper planned a subdued, very private celebration in Paris with longtime girlfriend Beyoncé Knowles.

Okay, Okay … There was a chorus of strip-tease artists tossed in for spice.

One year after the duo celebrated Jay-Z’s big day by inviting 20 friends to a three-day Caribbean party in St. Martin, they turned down the volume and turned up the romance to celebrate his 38th.

After Jay-Z’s surprise duet with Kanye West in England on Dec. 2, sources tell PEOPLE he headed to Paris and checked quietly into the Hotel Meurice on Monday.

Knowles arrived the next day, jetting in (on a commercial flight!) following Sunday’s performance at “Movies Rock.”

The two spent a leisurely day inside their hotel suite (which overlooks the famed Tuileries garden) and, at one point, Knowles hit the hotel’s luxurious spa. As evening fell, the couple took a Maybach limo for a romantic drive around the City of Light before settling down to an intimate dinner upstairs at popular restaurant L’Avenue.

Afterward, they pulled up for the late show at the Crazy Horse cabaret, where they sipped champagne and watched the cast run through the club’s new “Forever Crazy” revue.
