Last week, Blige was at the Diane von Furstenberg store in the Meatpacking District when she overheard a girl having a problem at the register. A spy said, “The girl had a dress on hold that she loved, and the bill was $900. She thought it was only $500, and she couldn’t afford it.” Blige told the saleswoman, “Go get the girl. I want to pay for the balance on the dress.” The customer at first declined Blige’s offer but relented after the singer said, “I know what it’s like to want something and not be able to have it. I insist.” The customer wanted to send her a check for the balance, but Blige said, “Just enjoy it. I’m blessed, so let me do this.”

Mary J. Blige congratulated Jay-Z — whom she is on tour with — and his new wife, Beyoncé, in North Carolina Saturday.
While Jay-Z remained mum about the wedding, Blige couldn’t contain her excitement for the newlyweds, shouting to the sold-out Greensboro audience: “Congratulations to my man, Jay-Z, and my girl B,” before starting her set with “You’re All I Need.”
Jay-Z and Beyonce tied the knot Saturday in his New York City apartment. Sources say the ceremony was, “very special, very private, very intimate.”
Jay-Z, 38, and Beyonce, 26, have been a couple since 2002 — but have always kept quiet about their relationship, even as they were photographed together on romantic holidays around the world.
Their reps are still not confirming the wedding, but a friend said: “It happened earlier (Friday) evening. Jay wanted it to be a really private affair – close friends and family.”
The ceremony was followed by a lavish party at Jay-Z’s penthouse apartment in NYC’s TriBeca neighborhood, decorated with white orchids and the number ‘4′, signifying the birthday number Beyonce and Jay-Z both share (Beyonce in September, Jay-Z in December)
A source said that Amy’s Orchids was hired to provide 50,000 to 60,000 white orchid blooms from Thailand for a “big party.” At the apartment, waiters were seen practicing their service.

Mary J. Blige has filed a lawsuit in a Central Islip court against counterfeiters who will be selling knockoff “Heart of the City” tour T-shirts and merchandise outside her concert with Jay-Z at Nassau Coliseum tomorrow. “She is suing John Does and Jane Does numbered 1 though 100, so law enforcement can confiscate the bogus stuff as they are selling it,” said a source. “Defendants will be selling and distributing unauthorized goods at [the] Coliseum bearing the marks of artist Mary J. Blige,” the suit reads. “They are sued under fictitious names because their true names are unknown at this time.”

Mary J. Blige says a series of ‘near death experiences’ helped her to sort out her life
Source: www.showbizspy.com
Singer Mary J. Blige says that a series of ‘near death experiences’ pulled her back from the brink.
In an emotional and intimate U.S. concert Blige revealed last night how she was forced to ‘choose life’ after her life spiraled out of control.
The hip-hop soul sensation appeared on the VH1 TV series ‘Storytellers,’ where she delivered a rousing hour-long performance in front of a crowd at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. In between songs she spoke about her life and how it has influenced her music.
Her most heartfelt performance of the evening came when Blige - who has battled with drug addiction and violent relationships - performed her hit ‘No More Drama,’ a song the star says is more important to her than any other. “The turn around point in my life came when I said no more drama.
“There was a whole lot of stuff going on before that were near death situations.
“It made me realize, ‘If you don’t fix your thoughts you are going to die - if you don’t get yourself together you are going to die.’ It was a choice, I chose life and not death.
She added: “The reason this record is so powerful each and every time is that it is in my DNA not to want this anymore.
“Ever since I was a kid growing up in the projects, there was always something jumping off
“Every time you walked out your building, you had to worry about whether you had to fight somebody who was having a harder time than you in your life, somebody that was just more miserable than you are.
“By the time I was an adult, all of this stuff followed me into my career, that’s when I started realising that I was carrying this stuff around and collecting those people who were like me.
“I realised I was my own worst enemy. When I sang that song it felt like everything, every demon from the past was jumping out of me, because I really meant it. No more drama.”
Blige went on to say she is now more than happy when she has one or two good days in a week - a feeling she summed up in her performance of ‘Just Fine.’
“We really, really wish one day that our entire life could be just fine, but it’s not going to happen that way because we’re people on planet Earth,” she said. “If I have one good day, two good days, I have to really recognize that that day is just fine.”

Elton John and Mary J. Blige are set to perform a duet at his post-Oscars party.
The superstar singers will take to the stage at Elton’s annual AIDS Foundation bash after the Academy Awards ceremony this coming Sunday.
Blige said: “Elton John is one of the most inspirational musicians and philanthropists in this industry for me.
“I respect him with all my heart and it is truly a pleasure to be performing with him on such an important night as we look to raise awareness and vital funds for the fight against HIV and AIDS.”
It has not yet been revealed what Elton and Blige will be performing at the star-studded party.
Elton, 60, founded his Aids charity back in 1992 and has since raised more than $125 million to support projects throughout the world.
This is not the first time the Rocket Man singer and the Family affair star have collaborated.
In 1999, Elton played the piano on the 37-year-old star’s single ‘Deep Inside’.

Mary J. Blige has revealed that he new song ‘Roses’ is about being premenstrual.
The 38-year-old R’n’B singer was inspired to record the ballad - which appears on her new album ‘Growing Pains’ - after having “one of those days” which all women can relate to.
Blige - who is married to producer Kendu Isaacs - said: “I’d had a terrible day the day before I recorded ‘Roses’ - I just wanted to be in a dark hole with sweet and salty things and not be bothered.
“My husband was asking what was wrong and I said, ‘The exact same thing that was wrong with me last month.’ I lost my cool, I lose my mind, I was really emotional. So the next day in the studio, my husband said, ‘OK, talk about how you feel,’ and I said, ‘Give me the green light and I’m going for it.’ I freestyled it.
“It is definitely a song for the chicks!”
Blige - who has overcome drug and alcohol addiction and suffered at the hands of abusive boyfriends - also revealed she finds it painful to perform her emotional song ‘No More Drama’.
She added to Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I go through the emotion of being a child growing up in the projects, getting robbed, being shot at, having to fight physically every day of your life, going home to alcoholic aunts and every woman around you being beaten so badly by men you can’t even understand it, and then growing up and realising you’re repeating all those patterns, you’re drinking the alcohol and doing the drugs and being abused by men, and the pain and frustration of not being able to stop it.”
Mary J. Blige admits to having sex on a plane
Source: www.showbizspy.com
R&B superstar Mary J. Blige left fans shocked during a recent television appearance - by candidly confessing she’s a member of the Mile High Club.
The ‘No More Drama’ singer, 37, was answering personal questions on pal Tyra Banks’ talk show when the subject turned to Blige’s sex life.
Asked if she’d ever made love on an airplane, a stunned Mary hesitated, before answering, “Yeah”.
But the singer refused to elaborate - to spare the blushes of her husband of four years, Kendu Isaacs.
Despite Blige’s desperate pleas to change the subject, nosy Banks asked, “Was it in the toilet? On a private or commercial jet?”
The chuckling singer said, “I’m married now, let’s move on”.
Mary J. Blige claims September 11 terrorist attacks saved her life

R&B star Mary J. Blige claims the September 11 terrorist attacks saved her life.
The ‘Family Affair’ singer, who was at the height of her drug addiction when two planes hit the World Trade Center in 2001, believes 9/11 was the wake-up call she needed to sort her life out.
She said: “It started when I was on tour in 2000. I was in the middle of all sorts of drug dependencies and one of my girlfriends died, which was a real blow. I met my husband the following year and he wasn’t afraid to challenge me. He made me question and try to find myself. Then the singer Aaliyah died - another death close to home. I was like, ‘Am I next?’ I actually thought I was going to die.
“A few weeks later, New York City blew up and that was it - I was getting a warning. I was out.”
The Grammy award-winning singer says getting clean was the best thing she has ever done, regardless of the fact it cost her some fans.
She said: “My pain is real, as was all the negative stuff I went through, but I couldn’t continue to live if I didn’t change. When I decided to turn my life round and say, ‘No more drama’, I might have lost a million fans but I gained two million - a lot of people who didn’t want a miserable Mary.”
Amy Winehouse is “the perect example” - Mary J Blige
Source: www.showbizspy.com
Amy Winehouse may be in rehab after being filmed smoking crack from a pipe - but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a setting a good example… according to former drug addict Mary J Blige.
“Amy’s music means something,” she said. “If you look at truth, leadership and honesty in music, Amy is the perfect example. She’s probably the best thing in the business now.
“I hope I can collaborate with her.”
Meanwhile, to keep her sane in rehab, the 24-year-old ‘Back to Black’ star has been watching Marilyn Monroe films.
“Amy is very ill and is suffering horrific withdrawal symptoms,” said the singer’s dad, Mitch, 57. “One thing helping Amy is her Marilyn Monroe films. Amy loves Some Like It Hot. She’s a huge fan of Monroe and thinks she’s wonderful.”
Amy checked into London’s Capio Nightingale Hospital last Thursday after a shocking video of her smoking - what appeared to be crack cocaine - was published by a British tabloid.
Guy Ritchie told to recruit Madonna for Nike commericals
Source: www.showbizspy.com
Guy Richie signed up to direct a series of “mini movies” for sports brand Nike - and they’ve asked if he can recruit wife Madonna to take part as well.
A source said: “Nike have commissioned Guy to put together some really cool feature-length adverts to last the entire commercial break.
“His brief is to make miniature movies with Nike gear as the star of the adverts. That’s unless he can rope Madonna in to add her presence to the campaign.”
The ‘Like A Virgin’ singer - who turns 50 later this year, is a huge fan of exercise. She runs several miles every day and has even bought the house next door to her London pad to convert it into a gym.
It’s not like Madonna needs the work, though - she has just topped the first-ever Forbes magazine Cash Queens of Music list - banking a massive $72 million USD between June 2006 and June 2007.
Most of that money was earned from her landmark Confessions tour, the highest-grossing tour for a female artist, earning $260 million worldwide.
Madonna also enjoyed income from record sales, her deal with high street fashion retailer H & M and payment from NBC for rights to broadcast her concert performance at London’s Wembley Stadium, Forbes reported.
