It’s all about family on Good Charlotte’s “Sounds of the Summer” tour. After bringing baby Harlow on the road to visit dad Joel Madden, Nicole Richie created a new tour video for the band’s online GCTV video series. The clip features photos of Harlow with a backstage pass and with Dad on the tour bus, plus footage of the band performing on stage. Says bassist Paul Thomas of Richie’s editing talents: “I think she’s got some skills.”

No strangers to drama, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie had local security on high alert over the weekend.

Things got tense around 2 a.m. Sunday when Hilton’s ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos realized she and boyfriend Benji Madden of the rock group Good Charlotte were being seated close to the Greek shipping heir at Blush nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas.

Witnesses said Niarchos dashed out of the club as soon as he saw the couple. The rocker reportedly has a beef with Niarchos, who wasn’t taking any chances, given his hasty solo exit.

About 45 minutes earlier, Richie, who recently had a baby with Joel Madden, Benji’s brother, was involved in a catfight in the valet area at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Security whisked Richie away, according to spies.

Hilton and Richie had attended the Good Charlotte concert at the Hard Rock pool before joining the Maddens and entertainment producer Jeff Beacher at Wasted Space, Carey Hart’s new club at the hotel.

Richie, whose daughter is 5 months old, recently vowed she would not be getting in trouble anymore “because I want my child to look up to me. … I want to show her the right path.”

Looks like baby Harlow hasn’t settled Nicole Richie’s wild side yet.

We’re told Nicole was involved in an altercation around 1 AM this morning with a female while in line at the valet outside the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Sources say Richie was so rowdy she had to be escorted off the property by security!

The photo was taken early last night at Wasted Space inside the Hard Rock, where we’re told Nicole was partying with Carey Hart and the boys from Good Charlotte.

Hard Rock was mum on the issue.

UPDATE: Nicole’s rep sent us this statement: “She was in Vegas but there wasn’t an altercation of any kind involving her.”

For Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, the wedding bells can wait – at least for a little while.

“We don’t have any plans for that right now,” Madden told PEOPLE on Wednesday. “We’re just happy, and we’re being a family, and that’s where we’re at right now. But marriage means something different to everyone.”

As a celebrity DJ at the Oakley/Suzuki Celebrity Ride Day event in Perris, Calif., Madden took turns spinning records, and quelling notions of a summer rush to the altar.

“Right now we’re really happy,” the Good Charlotte frontman says, “and we’re concentrating on our family, and that’s what is making us happy right now. We’re moving at our own pace.”

The new father has his mind now on raising little daughter Harlow. “It’s crazy,” he says. “Every day she does something new. When she reaches for me, it’s awesome! Just watching her grow, it melts me!”

Former Simple Life star Nicole Richie, 26, will expand her presence on the small screen this fall, when she appears in an episode of the NBC comedy Chuck, the network announced exclusively to PEOPLE. And Richie will be playing a role all too familiar in Young Hollywood: the Mean Girl.

According to NBC, Richie will play a “snarky and spiteful girl who tortured” actress Yvonne Strahovski’s character in high school. In the episode, airing sometime this fall, Strahovski’s character, Special Agent Sarah Walker, “must face her fears when she is forced to attend her 10-year high school reunion,” for a mission with costar Zachary Levi (Chuck) as her date.

Chuck’s executive producer Josh Schwartz says, “Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny. This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt. It’s going to be really fun.”

Richie has also guest-starred on 8 Simple Rules … for Dating My Teenage Daughter and American Dreams.

Too bad he was just joking — and calling out Star magazine for falsely reporting he was planning a $2 million wedding to the mother of his five-month-old daughter, Harlow.

“HAHA. JUST KIDDING,” Madden, 30, blogged. “So I feel really stupid even posting this, but I’ve been getting calls and texts from my family all week asking me why they weren’t invited to my wedding.”

“I guess the only answer I could give them was that I didn’t know we were having one!” he added. “So I just found that Star magazine wrote some story about a 2 MILLION dollar wedding we are supposed to be having, and that’s where it came from.

“Sooooo if you were pi–ed at me for not inviting you or even telling you, don’t blame me, there’s nothing to worry about,” Madden wrote. “It’s just Star magazine. How long do you think it will be before they write we called it off, or we broke up? I give them a week or two…….”

Madden also posted pictures of two gorillas posing together in a tux and wedding dress, asking his fans to, “Check out my blog for a picture of me and my beautiful bride. All I can say is I am so very happy…….”

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were spied house hunting in Beverly Hills Wednesday.

One option the couple visited, according to a source, was a $1.6 million Beverly Hills house that is described as a Cape Cod mini-estate. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a Jacuzzi tub, pool and a kitchen outfitted with state-of-the-art Viking and Sub-Zero appliances.

“They spent a lot of time looking at the house,” an eyewitness tells E! News. “They were clearly interested. It is a perfect place for them because it is walled in.”

Nicole, Joel and baby Harlow—who didn’t join her parents yesterday—currently live at Madden’s house in Glendale, which he bought down the street from his brother Joel’s house when he was single.

And with rumors of Richie and Madden getting married later this month, the couple’s recent house hunting is adding fuel to the fire.
In addition, a source tells E! News that Madden’s father, who lives in Maryland, is in town this week to spend more time with his sons and his granddaughter.

Joel Madden is more focused on Mother’s Day than a wedding with Nicole Richie.

“Not anytime soon,” the Good Charlotte rocker, 29, told Usmagazine.com when asked if the couple have plans to wed.

But Madden is looking forward to their first Mother’s Day since Richie, 26, gave birth to daughter Harlow in January.

“I don’t have any [plans] yet but I’m going to plan something special,” he told Us at the Hornitos Cinco de Mayo Party at Crown Bar in West Hollywood Monday.

“She is a great mom,” Madden said. “She is super mom!”

Harlow is even taking after her musically-oriented parents.

“We turn music on and she can’t stand yet but she definitely tries to dance and move to the beat even though she’s not standing or walking,” he told Us.

Harlow Kate Winter Madden may only be three months old, but she’s already burbling out her first words, says grandma.

“The other day I was holding her, and Harlow said, ‘Hi!’” Brenda Richie told Usmagazine.com at the ASCAP Pop Awards in Hollywood on Wednesday. (Nicole showed off her post-baby bod in a Missoni dress.)

“I said, ‘Nicole, did you hear that?’” Brenda continued. “Nicole said, ‘I don’t think she knew what she was saying!’”

Added Brenda, “Nicole talks to Harlow constantly, and she tries to answer back!”

The baby “is trying to crawl already,” Brenda said.

But Nicole is so protective, Brenda told Us, “I’m lucky if I get to [see] the baby. She loves being with that baby!

“[Harlow’s] bathing time has to be right on schedule!” Brenda added. “I was strict with Nicole, and she fought all of it.

“Now here is she is, being the same way I was [with her] — it’s great to see!”

Jokester Nicole Richie stopped by celebrity party supply store Party Paper Life in West Hollywood, Calif., and although the Good Charlotte rocker turns 29 today, a source said, “Nicole bought balloons with “30” on them because she said it is a joke between her and Joel.”

The new mother — daughter Harlow is 2 months old —- also picked up a birthday card that was blank inside so she could write her own personal message to her baby daddy, as well as a birthday banner. Nicole, 26, also left with some baby toys for her baby girl, a gift from the upscale party supply store and boutique.

Later, Nicole stopped by Alpha Gear for Gents on trendy Melrose Avenue, which carries apparel, housewares and accessories for men. A source told PageSix.com, “Nicole picked up some silver photo frames, and a mini SUCKUK boom box ipod speaker, and some Tom Ford sunglasses for herself.” Looks like Joel is in for a great birthday!

Joel Madden and Nicole Richie are moving to New York City — at least for part of the year. The new parents, who were spotted apartment-hunting in August, quietly plopped down a modest $999,999 for a two-bedroom, two-bath downtown condo on the Bowery in December and will consider it a primary residence, reps for the Good Charlotte frontman confirmed today.

In another sign that pregnancy and motherhood has toned down the former wild-child, Nicole’s new 1,000 square-foot 11th-floor pad “is very simple, nothing high-design,” the building’s senior agent Shelley O’Keefe for Corcoran Group Marketing told PageSix.com. “It’s low-key and was sold unrenovated.”

While Nicole tends to baby Harlow — or practices for a potential Broadway stint in Chicago — it’ll be easy for Joel to pop downstairs for a party. Celeb-friendly clubs BLVD and Crash Mansion are on the block and even have private recording studios.

Nicole Richie didn’t just beat rival Christina Aguilera to the delivery room by having daughter Harlow on Jan. 11, one day before Aguilera gave birth to son Max, but it appears Richie will beat Aguilera on the newsstand as well.

Both new moms each had their own cover of People magazine, and according to some early estimates, the issue featuring Richie is on target to sell more than 1.8 million copies, according to an industry source, whereas Aguilera’s has sold far less. (People magazine could not confirm sales numbers; a spokesperson said its too soon to know how many copies were sold.)

Why does there seem to be more interest in Harlow Winter Kate Madden? One magazine insider said part of it could come down to the moms’ fan bases. “Christina historically doesn’t do that well on covers,” said the source, who cites poor sales of her wedding photo issue in OK!, and less-than-stellar sales of her nude photo shoot in the January 2008 Marie Claire.

That might be true, but Nicole Richie doesn’t seem like an obvious home run on the cover, either. “There’s also a greater element of curiosity with Nicole,” the source conceded. “She’s gone public about being a heroin addict. Her boyfriend is covered in tattoos. By default, she’s got the more interesting baby. People want to see how she settles down. They want to see what kind of baby someone with her background has.”

Nicole Richie has been offered the lead role of Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, Us Weekly reports exclusively in its latest issue, on newsstands now.

Richie, 26, who welcomed daughter Harlow with Joel Madden on Jan. 12, is undecided.

“She’s definitely interested and weighing it out with the timing of the baby,” a Richie pal tells Us. “It is in the super early stages of discussions and no decision has been made yet.”

“It would give her a reason to really show her talent and to stay in the new place in NY Joel just got,” the source says. “It also shows people are really excited about Nicole right now.”

Whatever Richie’s decision, this year will be big for the new mom. “She is also weighing some other amazing offers but 2008 is going to be really exciting for her,” the source says. “She just working it all out and keeping Harlow in mind with everything she does, of course!”

Nicole Richie took a mini break from mommyhood this weekend, hitting four parties in two days.

Wearing a gold and diamond “H” necklace, the new mama, 26, and beau Joel Madden kicked off their weekend Saturday at the opening of the Eli Broad Contemporary Art Museum in L.A., where she told Usmagazine.com her newborn daughter “is doing great!”

The two then moved on to Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy bash at the Beverly Hilton Hotel — but they didn’t stay for long.

“We have to get home!” Madden was overheard telling a friend at 11:40 p.m. “[Harlow] only sleeps three hours at a time. She’s with Grandma now, but if she wakes up…”

The next night, Richie and Madden popped by Entertainment Weekly’s post-Grammy party at 10:40 p.m.

Richie, wearing a flowy bohemian dress, munched on chicken satay kabobs.

After about an hour, they met up with Madden’s bro, Benji, and moved on to the Sony BMG party (band Good Charlotte is under the label) at the Beverly Hills Hilton at 12:10 a.m.

Richie leaned on Madden’s shoulder and held his hand as he worked the room.

She sipped on a tiny glass of champagne at 1:12 a.m. before heading home to check up on Harlow at 1:48 a.m.

Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.

She weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz.

A pal was spotted walking into her room with a giant bundle of pink and white balloons, flowers and a stuffed black and white horse.

As Usmagazine.com reported exclusively, she arrived at the hospital late Thursday. Her parents arrived Friday as she went into labor.

Madden’s brother Benji and his girlfriend Sophie Monk were also at the hospital.

(Both Courtney Thorne-Smith and comedian David Alan Grier also welcomed babies Friday.)

In November, Richie said they could not agree on a baby name. “I figure I’ll be in the hospital for at least a day, so I’ll figure it out then,” she told Access Hollywood. In the same interview, Richie indicated the couple would wed “eventually.”

Earlier that month, Richie celebrated her pregnancy with a Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower, attended by Lauren Conrad, among other guests.

Richie and Madden have been actively supporting families and children in need since they launched the Richie-Madden Foundation in December. They threw a “winter wonderland” party for more than 200 children and their families.”

When will the very pregnant Nicole Richie finally pop?

“I think it’s sometime in the next week, that’s all we know,” Josh Madden, a DJ, told reporters at the Fuze Resolution Slenderize Kickoff in Hollywood last night. “We don’t know what it is, we don’t know any names.”

(Richie — who made Us’ list of Hollywood’s best dressed bumps — has also said she and Joel Madden “can’t agree” on baby names either.)

One thing Josh is sure of: Bro Joel will make a great dad.

“He’s always had kids at heart,” Josh said. “He kind of modeled his life like a role model and I’d say if he was having a kid or not that everything he’s done from the start is just going to be continued on.”

When asked if Joel is ready to be a dad, Josh told Usmagazine.com, “Oh yeah, I think so.”

And Josh is more than prepared to play uncle.

“I got them some clothes, that’s what I do,” he said. “It’s been ongoing for a while so it’s cool.”
