Designer Roberto Cavalli has officially confirmed what has been rumored for months: Yes, Jennifer Lopez is pregnant.

(And as the man charged with designing outfits for her changing body, he should know.)

Asked what types of clothing he designs for his celebrity clients, he told PEOPLE exclusively on Tuesday, “Well Jennifer Lopez, at this moment, she requests something very special because she is waiting for the baby.

“It is so complicated because every week she is getting bigger,” added the designer, speaking from his celebration promoting Roberto Cavalli Vodka at his New York showroom.

Cavalli designed multiple loose-fitting and flowing outfits for the 38-year-old singer, who is on tour with husband Marc Anthony. (See PEOPLE’s photo gallery of Lopez’s fashion choices.)

“The thing about Jennifer Lopez, she is a singer, she is a dancer,” said Cavalli. “Most of the time when I prepare something for the tour, the performer, they want something very soft so they can dance and so they can move free.”

Earlier this month, Anthony raised eyebrows during the couple’s show in Los Angeles when he sang a special dedication to his wife. “It’s a real personal song,” Anthony said before belting out Journey’s “Faithfully,” which includes the lyrics, “They say that the road ain’t no place to start a family …”

A rep for Lopez did not immediately return calls for comment.

The couple, who have been married for more than 20 years and have three children together, are said to be on the outs due to Eva’s intensifying friendship with former Fashion Café founder and fraudster Tommaso Buti. A very close source said, “Roberto is always on the arms of other beautiful women, but he was very jealous when he came home one day and caught Eva on the phone, talking to someone very intimately. He dialed the number back, and it was Tommaso. There was a huge fight.” Buti, who was once married to supermodel Daniela Pestova, is not allowed to leave Italy due to fraud convictions and describes himself as a “playboy with the Midas touch.” A rep for Cavalli didn’t return calls.

Spies waiting in line at the Fifth Avenue Apple store Friday night stood gaping while Cavalli breezed straight to the front of the growing line and told the employees at the door, “I am here for my iPhone.” According to one on looker, “He kept saying in his thick Italian accent, “I am Roberto Cavalli. I am famous Italian designer.’ ” After a half-hour of his pleading, a fashion-savvy Apple employee “eventually recognized him and took him in through the back.” A rep for Cavalli had no comment.

Anti-fur advocate Christina Aguilera is furious with designer Roberto Cavalli, after he tricked her into wearing real fur onstage.

The Italian couturier is designing all the outfits for the singer’s current world tour, and was reportedly instructed by Aguilera not to include any real animal fur.

But Cavalli admitted to magazine Women’s Wear Daily he sent her a stole made from real white fox fur, which she subsequently slipped on to perform gigs in Europe.

Aguilera was tipped off by Peta vice president Dan Mathews, who sent her an email with a link to a video showing foxes getting killed by anal electrocution for their fur.

The singer quickly replied, saying she was “very upset” insisting she “only ever wears fake fur”. She has now replaced the stole for a fake fur version, in time for gigs in Switzerland, Austria and the Czech Republic this month.
