His Mind Might Be Beautiful, But That Belly Ain’t

Russell Crowe is looking a little worse for the wear, if you ask us.

Well, we’re going to go all retro on you and blame this all on the writer’s strike, just because we haven’t been able to blame the writer’s strike for a while, it being over and all.

It’s a good thing he’s got such a beautiful mind.

Russell Crowe thinks the Pope looks like an undertaker

Source: www.showbizspy.com

Russell CroweGladiator star Russell Crowe shocked US chat show viewers when he said the Pope looks like an UNDERTAKER.

The 43-year-old actor made the blunder when he told host Jay Leno he received a framed blessing after he got married. “It was the previous one - not the current one who looks like an undertaker,” he said.

“It’s up on the wall of the playroom so the Pope’s next to the Wiggles and Mickey Mouse.”

Crowe married Australian singer and actress Danielle Spencer in April 2003. The Oscar winner built an Italian-style chapel especially for the occasion.

He revealed to Leno that he is a romantic at heart, and showered his wife with cupcakes and flowers for Valentine’s Day. “My wife was doing yoga and when she came out of yoga her 19-month-old boy Tennyson and her four-year-old son Charlie both had little bouquets of white roses and Gardenias,” he said.

“There was a rose flower thing that stands about this high and then of course the thing that really drove it home was the half a dozen Sprinkles in a box.

“The cup cakes - the dark chocolate ones. Just as powerful as oysters they say.”

Russell Crowe renting Tom Cruise’s old house

Source: www.showbizspy.com

Russell CroweGladiator star Russell Crowe is renting a new LA pad - and it’s Tom Cruise’s old house.

The Oscar winning actor could be splashing out as much as $125,000 a month on the Beverly Hills mansion - the price the home was recently listed for.

But while Cruise and wife Katie Holmes kept a low profile behind the large iron gates, Crowe happily strolls round the neighborhood with his family and visits the local park.

Aussie Crowe, 43, is living in Los Angeles for three months while he films new movie State of Play alongside Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren. Crowe replaced Brad Pitt in the role of Cal McCaffrey after the Fight Club star left the projects over complaints about the script.

It can now be revealed that he is living in Cruise’s former mansion, which is nestled in a leafy part of Beverly Hills, close to the celebrity homes of David and Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez. The 10,000 square foot pad was built in the 1920s, with stained and leaded glass windows and crown moldings.

The Tudor-style stone house, with a slate roof, is built on four acres of land with a long private driveway and motor court that can park more than 20 cars. The house also features extensive gardens, a green lawn the size of a football field and a proper English rose garden with a large fountain.

The Beverly Hills home has extensive movie history. Not only was it the place rented by film legend Tom Cruise for years, it was also used to film scenes from movie Blow. In the 2001 flick, the sprawling mansion was owned by Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz’s characters.

While Cruise, who has since moved round the corner, rented the home for $75,000 a month, the property has recently been listed for a massive $125,000 a month. But real estate sources believe the kid-friendly property will suit the Beautiful Mind actor down to the ground. “Tom made numerous renovations during the years that he rented the Beverly Hills home,” the source said.

“He put in a home theater so he could screen movies and he turned the guest house into a children’s playroom for Suri.

“The house also has a large swimming pool at the back, which is perfect now the LA weather is warming up.

“The home may be pricey, but it’s clearly perfect for a family man.”

Crowe has been spotted walking around the neighborhood on numerous occasions with his wife Danielle Spencer and their sons Charlie and Tennyson.

An eyewitness said: “It’s so unusual to see so much activity from that place.

“When Tom lived there you never saw him - unless it was in a blacked out SUV.

“Russell just comes and goes as he pleases - on foot - and visits the local park with his family.

“He is clearly a fan of the neighborhood and wants to make the most of the three months he has here.”

Russell Crowe Is On His Best Behavior

HOTEL clerks might not like phone-throwing Russell Crowe, but his co-stars on “3:10 to Yuma” say he’s “a sweetheart.” Ben Foster and Dallas Roberts gushed to writer Gregory Speck, “Now we know why his rugby team loves him so much.” Crowe often hosted barbecues for the cast and crew, they said at a screening at the Tribeca Grand. The prima donna on the movie, which co-stars Peter Fonda and Gretchen Mol, was Christian “American Psycho” Bale, who would arrive on the set by helicopter and never speak to his castmates unless the script called for it.

Russell Crowe: ‘I’m Not Playing The Crocodile Hunter’

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Russell Crowe has blasted reports he’s planning to portray his late friend Steve Irwin in a new movie, admitting he’s “appalled” by the rumours.

Media outlets jumped to claims the Gladiator star was onboard an Irwin biopic project last week , but Crowe is upset that anyone is even thinking of promoting such an idea.

He fumes, “It’s appalling to me and offends me very deeply.

“It’s so awful that I have to deal with millions of people thinking I would dance on my friend’s grave.

“Yes, I do think there should be a movie made about Steve but I’m not the sort of person who will be doing commerce on my friend’s grave.”

Hollywood superstar-and-sometime musician Russell Crowe is hosting a tribute concert for his late friend Steve Irwin in Brisbane, Australia next week.

The Oscar-winning actor, who fronts The Ordinary Fear Of God, has been given three days off from shooting forthcoming movie American Gangster so he can fly back from the U.S. to his native Australia for the event.

Crocodile Hunter star Irwin died after being stung in the chest by a stingray while diving on the Great Barrier Reef last week.
Paying tribute to Irwin, Crowe said, “He was the ultimate wildlife warrior… He touched my heart. I believed in him. I’ll miss him.”

Russell Crowe tries his hand at Rap

Who knew Russell Crowe was an old-school hip-hop fan? The surly star - who plays guitar and sings in his “pub rock” band, the Ordinary Fear of God - was backstage at Webster Hall the other night, chatting up Lord Jamar of the ’90s rap group Brand Nubian. Jamar, an aspiring actor who has had parts on “Law & Order” and “Third Watch,” asked Crowe, “Didn’t you start out with music?” Crowe simply nodded. He was there to check out top act Wu-Tang Clan, whose sonic mastermind, RZA, co-stars with Crowe and Denzel Washington in Ridley Scott’s “American Gangster.”
