Sarah Jessica Parker’s refusal to submit to the surgeon’s scalpel marked her out in an industry where cosmetic surgery is the norm.

But she has finally bowed to pressure to have her distinctive mole removed.

The decision followed increasing criticism and downright abuse from fans who complained that they found it ‘distracting’.

The distinctive beauty spot was firmly in evidence in May, at the London premiere of the Sex and the City movie in Leicester Square. It was still there last month at a charity event in New York.

But only a faint mark remained where the mole used to be when the 43-year-old fashion icon attended a baseball game in the Big Apple.

The publicist for the actress known to many by her initials SJP insisted yesterday that she had not undergone cosmetic surgery.

She said: ‘Nothing has been removed.’ But the transformation from prominent mole to almost invisible blemish seemed far too dramatic to be the result of make-up artistry.

And a few hours later, a source close to the star confirmed that she had the mole removed in the past two weeks.

he source said: ‘I don’t know when exactly she had it done but she has definitely had a procedure. She’s kept it really quiet though.’

Miss Parker’s fellow thespian Ewan McGregor had two moles removed from his face last year following a trip round Africa.

He said: ‘I just went to have them checked. You have to be careful with moles if you’re pale-skinned and you spend time in the sun. So I went to see a specialist who thought they were better to be removed and indeed he was correct.’

Former supermodel Cindy Crawford, 42, still has a dark mole above her top lip, however.

She was encouraged to have it removed at the beginning of her career but refused - and it didn’t do her earning power any harm.

Kate Sowerbutts, clinical nurse specialist at the Mole Clinic in London, said: ‘Sarah Jessica Parker looks like she has a compound mole which is quite unlikely to be cancerous. It is more likely she had it removed for cosmetic purposes.

‘These type of inherited moles continue to grow and grow as we get older which may account for why she decided to have it removed. It’s such an easy procedure, she would have been home within an hour.’

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker is usually fashion-forward, but at last week’s NYC premiere of the film she found herself behind the times.

Parker, 43, was shocked to learn that her strapless Nina Ricci gown was worn earlier in the month by heiress Lauren (Davis) Santo Domingo to the Met’s Costume Institute Gala (where she walked the carpet with the dress’ designer, Olivier Theyskens).

Making matters worse, Lindsay Lohan wore the gown in an advertising campaign for Disney.

Parker told the New York Times that the designer had assured her the gown had only appeared in magazine shoots.

“Look, my affection for the dress hasn’t changed,” she said. “But what they did was so short-sighted. It’s just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.

“[The designer] didn’t say, ‘Well, actually I just escorted Lauren down the red carpet at the Met,’” said Parker, adding, “I just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it.”

The ladies of Sex and the City were all on hand last night for their premiere at Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan.  All of the ladies worked the red carpet looking glamorous, but Jennifer Hudson went with the spaceman outfit that I wasn’t a fan of.  I would have to say she was the worst dressed of the evening.   The movie opens wide this Friday, May 30.

Sarah Jessica Parker has blasted rumors that she did not get on with her co-stars in the Sex And The City film.

Jessica Parker’s denial comes after reports this week claimed that she does not speak to Kim Cattrall and they go to great lengths to avoid each other.

It was even claimed that Cattrall, who plays the promiscuous Samantha Jones in the show and film, refused to sit through the screening of the premiere in London’s Leicester Square with the other actresses and at a party on Sunday night had been dropped off at a different entrance.

But denying the rift, Sarah said she “loved those women”, adding, “I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else. We are family, there would be no reason to do it otherwise.

“I’m so proud of the work the other ladies have done, I think they’re marvellous.”

It has previously been claimed that Parker, 43, and Cattrall, 51, fell out during the filming of the television show, which ended in 2004.

It has also been reported that attempts to make the movie stalled when Cattrall made demands for the same money as Parker who was always paid more for the television series due to her additional role as executive producer.

But Sarah says the real reason the movie adaptation of the HBO smash almost failed to get off the ground was because “there was no script, there was an idea,” she said, adding, “When it didn’t happen, we all went on… Two years ago I had this instinct we should revisit the idea. Our audience grew after we went off-air so the audience created the opportunity.”

Sex and The City actress Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed that unlike her character, Carrie Bradshaw, in the hit show, she doesn’t obsess over upmarket labels.

“I don’t wear designer gear around the house, it’s not practical,” she says. “I am a mother first and getting my son out of the house in the morning and to school, as any working mother will tell you, allows little time for vanity.

“It’s very liberating to let your attention be elsewhere. That’s why occasions like this premiere are wonderful, because you get to be all shined up and have marvelous things to wear.

“If I did it every day I’d be glib about the whole thing. Everyone loves to wear a great dress — who doesn’t?”

And the actress — who was earlier this week in London for the world premiere of Sex and The City: The Movie — said she was flattered by the warm reception she received while in the UK.

She says, “If we had dared to dream what our world premiere would be like…this more than surpassed our wild expectations. It was the spirit of the crowd, the great reception, how hospitable and how committed they were.

“Another reason that Monday night was very moving was we felt this debt of gratitude to the fans and we recognize our good fortune.”

Sarah Jessica Parker premiered the Sex and The City Movie in London this week — but she won’t be dashing back to perform on a Broadway stage anytime soon.

“It depends on schedules and my son’s life and can I be home to put him to bed?” she says. “And who’s going to be home to put him to bed?

“I mean, I can’t be on stage if [husband] Matthew’s on stage. We can’t both be gone from the house.

“There’s going to come a time when our son wants us to be gone from the house, but not yet. He actually still likes us and wants us around.”

And speaking about the new issue of Vogue — in which she appears on the cover; and with her co-star Chris Noth — Sarah says, “It was incredibly easy with Chris. We stay in touch, we email, and we’re really good friends, and I just adore him.

“I just adore being around him.”

And her favorite episode of Sex and The City? “I’m very bad at picking favorites, because I’m one of eight kids and I always heard my mother saying, ‘I will never pick a favorite among the eight’,” she says. “But I have particular fondness for the early episodes, because we were just figuring out how we wanted to tell these stories.

“One episode in particular is ‘Valley of the Twenty-Something Guys,’ because it’s kind of dark and there’s something very fresh about the storytelling.”

In what I feel is an insult to New York the Sex and the City crew premiered their New York based and filmed movie in London yesterday.  I just think this movie should have premiered in New York since the city is a central character in the series.  Well all the ladies showed up and even looked like they were getting along on the red carpet.  Of course I think Sarah Jessica Parker might have been trying to upstage some people with her 9 foot flower hat she was sporting. Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall were all looking good as they posed for pictures along with some other celebs that didn’t want to miss the festivities.

While developers of her Coty perfume lines, “Lovely” and “Covet Pure Bloom,” insist that Parker “was never asked to be on the Home Shopping Network because of her schedule,” HSN insiders get the impression that Parker “doesn’t want to ever appear” on the channel. Coty confirmed Parker’s two scents will be hawked on the dial-in shopping channel this month, but say the deal hardly involved her. Company reps told Page Six the “Sex and the City” star approved the deal, but “Coty signed with HSN, not Sarah Jessica.” Parker’s perfume launch is part of a celeb trend segment on the network - but don’t expect to see Jennifer Lopez, Calvin Klein and Gwen Stefani hawking their fragrances, either, to the folks at home.

Sarah Jessica Parker holds no grudges against co-star Kim Cattrall (Samantha), who held out from shooting the Sex and the City movie for years because she wanted more money.

“If I had thought it was any of my business at the time, what I would have said is, ‘Isn’t it okay for Kim to think the money wasn’t right?’” Parker says in the new issue of New York magazine (on newsstands now).

She added, “Perhaps [Kim] was some kind of emotional psychic, because this way we made a better movie.”

Speaking of money, Parker shot down a reporter’s theory that her character Carrie Bradshaw has an attraction, conscious or unconscious, to Big because of his big bucks.

“I really don’t think money was a criteria [for their romance],” Parker insists. “It never would have occurred to her to take money from a man.”

What did attract Carrie to Big? He doesn’t care about her shoe obsession!

In the movie, Big buys her a new pad, complete with a huge closet.

“The closet was spectacular,” Parker tells Entertainment Tonight. “For her, the closet is the heart of the house.

“That’s what’s promising about Carrie’s relationship with Big,” she adds. “He doesn’t care [about her love for clothes] — he doesn’t judge it.”

She wouldn’t say whether Carrie weds in the movie, but admits, “we went through 40 or 50 dresses and did fitting after fitting after fitting. They literally came from every continent!”

Parker says the movie — out May 30 — is about “love, silliness and also sadness and loss and disappointment.

“[You see] how friends are necessary and how at a certain point, no one can fix [your problems] but yourself,” she adds. “That’s the difference of where Carrie is now and where she was in her 20s.”

Sex and The City star Sarah Jessica Parker says she won’t turn to Botox in order to beat the aging process.

The 43-year-old actress — who plays newspaper journalist Carrie Bradshaw in the hit HBO television series and upcoming move — says that despite the entertainment industry being a hard place to age, she won’t resort to the anti-aging injections.

She says, “I believe in aging gracefully—and of course, buying as many anti-aging creams as possible!”

A far cry from her immaculately turned out character in SATC, Parker, who’s married to actor Matthew Broderick, admits: “I never dress up that much. I can’t even blow-dry my own hair and I don’t know how to put make-up on either!

“I never do my nails. I’ve probably worn nail polish twice in 10 years.

“I’ll admit I do know how to cover a zit and put on mascara and eyeliner, but I can only out my hair into a ponytail, nothing else.”

She may cut a willowy figure – but Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t deprive herself in order to fit into designer duds.

“I eat everything,” the actress, 43, told PEOPLE Monday night at a special screening of her new film, Smart People, co-hosted by Allure magazine’s Linda Wells and The Cinema Society. “I’m just an eater. If it’s free, I honestly eat everything.”

As if to prove a point, the Sex and the City star rattled off a list of all the food she’d consumed in the past 48 hours: “Last night I had steak and some lamb shank. And I had some roasted chicken and some cassoulet and some profiteroles and some ice cream and some cheesecake.”

And that’s not all. On Monday, “I had two different tarts from Once Upon a Tart [in SoHo] and toast and a banana and a cup of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese,” she said. Oh, yeah: “And a glass of fresh orange juice.”

One thing not on the menu: Alcohol. “I’m just simply not really a drinker,” she said. “It just doesn’t occur to me. Tonight I’ll have a glass of wine.”

So how does she stay so svelte? “It’s predisposition probably,” said Parker, who is also a Pilates devotee, despite her having not worked out in “a couple of weeks.” Finally, “And running around New York City and having a five-year-old [son James Wilkie Broderick].”

But her real stay-slim secret? “Anxiety!” she exclaimed.

Sex and The City star Sarah Jessica Parker says she hates Los Angeles — because the city treats celebrities “like exotic creatures”.

The actress insists she’d never quit New York and move to the home of Hollywood, because she believes it’s too obsessed with actors.

She told Britain’s Hello! magazine: “For me it was never really a choice between New York and Los Angeles.

“I’ve always considered New York my home and since my husband Matthew Broderick was born and raised here we never even considered moving away.

“New York has the big advantage of not treating celebrities like exotic creatures.

“No-one cares because the city is so big and driven by so many other interests that people don’t obsess with actors as much as they do in Los Angeles, where it all revolves around Hollywood.”

The 42-year-old will take on the role of a flight attendant in the Broadway version of hit comedy Boeing Boeing, which is currently running in London. SEX and The City star Sarah Jessica Parker and reality factory Magical Elves are reportedly teaming up to create a Project Runway-type show for the art world.

“Art is a much more inclusive world than people think,” a spokesman for Magical Elves told Star Magazine. “We really feel there’s a way to show people how much they care about art in the same way Runway showed people how much they care about clothes. That accessibility is why we think the show can work.”

Parker - known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO television series Sex and the City, will mostly stay behind the scenes as an exec producer on the art show - which will air on Bravo - though she may pop up on camera if it makes sense creatively, Cutforth said. Parker has previously appeared as a guest judge on an episode of Project Runway.
