SELMA Blair was one of the few stars of “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” who didn’t have to wear extensive prosthetics and heavy makeup - and she was relentless in teasing the rest of the cast about it. “I [was] very naughty in that department,” the hottie says in this month’s Fangoria. “On the hottest days, when the other actors [couldn’t] breathe in their makeup, I breeze in and say how sweaty I feel in my cotton tank top. It’s just as well Ron Perlman is my next-door neighbor in real life and knows my sense of humor.” The Guillermo del Toro flick opens this week.

Selma on Dunkin’ Donuts, Double Chins and Doppelgangers

Selma Blair’s mom doesn’t seem to have much faith in her daughter’s acting abilities. Even though the 35-year-old actress has been a movie star for more than a decade, she says her mother still asks “when I’m going to come home and work in Dunkin’ Donuts.” (Mom is apparently a big fan of their coffee…)

The star of the new horror film Waz spoke to the British newspaper The Independent about why she blames the paparazzi for her double chin, dating “gorgeous” men and what she’s got in common with Tom Cruise.

On how her mom feels about her career choices, including her role as a disturbed rape victim in Waz: “She thinks I’m awful in most things… [When I showed her a pre-release version of the film] she said: ‘Oh god, Selma, I can’t see a thing!’ Then she made me turn it off.”

On how Selma dealt with all of the gore during filming:
“They kept having to cut away from my face… I couldn’t be disgusted in the movie… This was a difficult movie to shoot. You’re talking to someone who couldn’t even dissect a little pig in seventh grade, and that was after all the blood had been drained out of it.”

On the antidote to her recent run of horror films, including Hellboy, Waz and Hellboy 2:
“I just need to appear in a period piece really soon. A lavish, beautiful, non-gory period piece.”

On having her photo taken:
“If I was looking good and someone happened to take a picture, I’d probably be quite pleased anyone was paying attention to me at all… I don’t look especially good in paparazzi shots. A lot of the people they snap, they’re kids. They look good… without makeup or anything. But… I need a little Photoshop. Inevitably, I’ll turn away and have a horrible, startled look on my face… All I can think is that this is going to break my mother’s heart, because she’s going to have to see her baby with a double chin and people writing rude comments.”

On the reason photographers seek her out:
“I look like Tom Cruise, don’t I? [Or] Katie Holmes. Katie Holmes with Tom Cruise’s haircut.”

On what people really want to know about actors:
“It’s almost off-topic to talk about acting. What people want to know is how you made some great mistake, or that you’re dating someone really gorgeous… People would much rather see you fall apart than see you talk about something with any dignity… Marlon Brando once gave an interview in which he said actors were like lipstick, or diapers. We’re a product, and you have to sell the product.”

Selma Blair is back on the market. The actress confirms to PEOPLE, “I’m single.”

So when did she split with boyfriend Matthew Felker? “Oh, it was a while ago,” the star explained at the L.A. opening of the new Kiki De Montparnasse lingerie store. “While I was in Budapest [filming Hellboy 2].”

Blair, 35, and the model-actor (best known as Britney Spears’s kissing partner in the “Toxic” video) met through mutual friends. They and had been dating steadily since her divorce from Ahmet Zappa last November.

“I’ve just been reconnecting with my friends,” Blair says of life post-boyfriend.

Before catching up with Ashley Olsen (who was also on hand for the launch), Blair was game to pose with some of the store’s more provocative wares – namely leather whips and gold-plated handcuffs. Surrounded by lace slips and garter belts, the actress said her newly single status doesn’t lessen her love of lingerie. “I have a lot of it, but mostly for myself,” she said. “It just makes you feel beautiful.”

And that, incidentally, is also what she’s looking for in a man. “I want someone who makes me feel good,” she said, adding with a sly smile, “if you know what I mean.”
