Tom Cruise Has Been Replaced By Angelina Jolie

Source: www.celebritymound.com

GONE are the days of Tom Cruise as action hero. The Scientologist - once the leading man in movies like “Top Gun,” “Days of Thunder” and “The Last Samurai” - has been replaced by Angelina Jolie as the star of Columbia Pictures’ spy thriller “Edwin A. Salt,” which will now need a new title, Variety reports.

And at 46, Cruise is thought to be too old and too expensive to star in the next “Mission Impossible” sequel. “Cruise is begging for ‘MI4,’ but Paramount wants a younger, cheaper guy,” a source told Page Six. “He had a tantrum and ran out of the meeting.”

So Cruise is turning to comedy to revive his career. He plays a fat, bald studio executive in “Tropic Thunder.” [See Lou Lumenick’s review on Page 61.] Co-star Ben Stiller told Elle that Cruise was gung-ho to join the cast: “Tom said, ‘I want to play the studio guy. I want to dance, and I want to have big hands.’ Tom was doing this little dance, and I was like, ‘This is insane. If this thing was on YouTube, it would be all over the world.’ ”

Cruise is also said to be attached to “Food Fight,” a comedy about a snooty New York chef forced to cook at a school cafeteria.

After his falling-out with Paramount boss Sumner Redstone two years ago, Cruise and his producing partner, Paula Wagner, took over United Artists, which bombed with the anti-war “Lions for Lambs.” UA’s “Valkyrie” - a $100 million drama about the attempted assassination of Adolf Hitler - is also said to be a turkey, having been postponed twice and now due out in February.

“It’s assumed the UA deal with Cruise and Wagner will be coming to an end,” said our source. “They haven’t greenlit a picture other than ‘Valkyrie’ and ‘Lions for Lambs.’ ”

UA production chief Jeff Kleeman has left after only 11 months, on the heels of marketing/publicity chief Dennis Rice, who left in July. UA is down to a skeleton crew and no rep could be reached.

Tropic Thunder Premiere

Source: www.celebridiot.com

Robert Downey Jr, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Tom Cruise, and Matthew McConaughey were on hand in Los Angeles for the world premiere of their new comedy Tropic Thunder.  Tom was escorted by his wife Katie Holmes and she was looking quiet nice towering over he little husband.  Still was accompanied by his gorgeous wife and co-star Christine Taylor.  The movie itself is meeting some opposition from groups representing the mentally challenged who are now calling for a nationwide boycott of the film.  Expect that to have little impact on the opening weekend which should take down Batman as the number 1 film in the country.

Lawsuit goes after Tom Cruise

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Tom Cruise is named in a $250 million federal lawsuit that is using the RICO statute against the Church of Scientology. Ex-Scientologist Peter Letterese, a longtime critic of the church, filed suit in Southern District Court in Florida on July 15 alleging, among other things, that members of the church harassed him after he left.

In court papers provided to The News by investigator Paul Barresi, Letterese claims a member of the church phoned his lawyer at home, and when the lawyer’s wife answered, said he was her husband’s homosexual lover.

Barresi, who has done investigative work on behalf of Cruise, tells us: “[Letterese] is just including a celebrity name to get attention.”

Letterese calls the church a “crime syndicate” and wants it broken up under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization law, just as the feds have broken up Mafia families.

He singles out Cruise, who’s made no secret of his religion, saying that Scientology head David Miscavage is “aided and abetted by the actions of Tom Cruise, his right-hand man for foreign and domestic promotion, as well as for foreign and domestic lobbying. He has assisted the syndicate in acquiring funds and [made] his own donations of money believed to be in the multiple tens of millions of dollars.”

One of Letterese’s beefs is that the church allegedly uses a business book, “Effective Sales Closing Techniques,” as part of its teachings. He says this violates his intellectual property rights, since he bought the rights to the book from the widow of author Leslie Dane.

Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, did not respond to an e-mail requesting comment.

Karin Pouw, a spokeswoman for the Church of Scientology, told us: “This is a frivolous suit based on falsehoods.”

As for the Dane book, Pouw said, “Earlier this month, the federal Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit already rejected similar claims and affirmed that the church’s use of the book in question was fair use. Mr. Letterese was penalized $266,000 by a California court for refusing to provide evidence to support many of the same allegations.”

Maverick’s back: Cruise jumps on eighties remake bandwagon as he plans Top Gun II

Source: www.celebritymound.com

First it was Rocky, then it was Rambo and more recently Indiana Jones, and now Tom Cruise is following the eighties remake craze by filming a Top Gun sequel.

Twenty two years after Maverick sang his way into the heart of his instructor Charlie with ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling’, the fighter pilot will take to the skies again.

Movie bosses are keen to resurrect the mega-successful 1986 movie, which launched Tom onto Hollywood’s A-list and earned $350million worldwide.

Cruise, 46, is in talks with studio bosses to reprise his role as Lt. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in a long-awaited follow-up.

An insider tells The Sun: ‘The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.’

The original Top Gun starred Cruise as an cocky aspiring pilot who falls in love with his beautiful instructor, Charlie Blackwood, played by Kelly McGillis.

If Cruise agrees to reprise his role, Top Gun II would be a surefire box office hit.

The actor’s film career has been remarkably less successful in recent years after previously dominating the highest box offices receipts since the 1980s.

His last big hit was War Of The Worlds in 2005 - which was released around the same time he started dating his now third wife Katie Holmes.

Mission: Impossible III in 2006 performed below industry expectations, taking less money than the first film in 1996, which was a huge worldwide success.

His last film, Lions For Lambs, which opened last November, failed to make an impact at the box office and was critically mauled.

Meanwhile, Tom took time out of his acting career to enjoy a day at the race track with wife Katie.

The couple left the kids at home for the day as they stepped out at the Red Bull US MotoGP World Championship in Monterey, California.

Dressed down in jeans, sunglasses and leather jackets, the couple walked in sync around the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as they talked to drivers and officials in between races.

The couple were given pole position as they watched the races from the pit lane wall.

Tom Cruise Had His Comeback Hopes Dashed

Source: www.celebritymound.com

It looks like there’s a snag in Tom Cruise’s big career comeback film. According to sources, Cruise is probably not going to be playing the role of Edwin A. Salt, a fictional CIA officer who is outed as a spy.

“Edwin A. Salt,” which is set at Columbia Pictures, has had a rocky road. First Terry George was set to direct. He left and was replaced by Philip Noyce.

But now Cruise is out, and I’m told it’s because of money. Apparently, Tom is unaware of the change in his status in the Hollywood community. Where once he was the top-paid star, Cruise now is in a position where a $20 million salary is not possible. I’m told an internal memo went around among the film’s producers and top creators in which the Cruise situation was discussed and names were gathered for a replacement.

The reasons for Cruise’s departure are not just his diminished popularity, negative public opinion and Scientology — although those would be good enough. It’s also just generational. Cruise is 45. His heyday as a box office star — if he ever had one — is over.

Like past huge leading action stars such as Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cruise must face the brutal facts of aging. Ironically, he’s been replaced by Will Smith, whom Cruise has courted for Scientology. Talk about rubbing “Salt” in a wound!

Of course, it doesn’t help that his last big feature, “Mission: Impossible 3,” was eons ago, in Hollywood terms — 2006. On top of that, even a film shot now and released next summer would have to erase in the audience’s mind Cruise’s upcoming release, “Valkyrie,” aka The Nazi Movie, due next February.

And still, “Salt” was not even going to be released by United Artists, the studio where Cruise has a financial interest. With “Salt” back in the shaker, maybe he can concentrate on projects with partner Paula Wagner at UA, instead.

Meantime, Cruise remains at the center of the mystery concerning his kids Isabella and Connor’s continued absence from their mother, Nicole Kidman. The kids, I’m told, still have not visited Kidman in Tennessee nor met their new half-sister, Sunday Rose. This kind of thing, Cruise doesn’t seem to comprehend, only adds to his career predicament.

Tom, Katie & the Kids Send Gifts to Baby Sunday

Source: www.celebritymound.com

The Cruise family has sent along a present to welcome little Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, PEOPLE has learned.

Contrary to some reports that Tom Cruise gave ex-wife Nicole Kidman a “room full of flowers,” the actor and his family – including Cruise’s children with Kidman, Bella, 15, and Connor, 13 – actually sent a huge baby basket to Nashville.

The high-end gift included chenille Giraffe baby blankets, items from the Hermes baby line and other newborn necessities.

Kidman, 41, gave birth to Sunday Rose at a Nashville hospital on Monday morning, with husband Keith Urban, 40, by her side for the smooth delivery.

“We feel immensely blessed and grateful to be given this beautiful baby girl,” the happy couple said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. “She’s an absolute delight.”

Anti-Scientology group on attack

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Critics of Scientology say they plan another theatrical protest against the church - this time targeting its intelligence division.

The anti-Scientology group known as Anonymous says its July 12 “Spy vs. Sci” demonstration will be held in “cities all around the world,” according to a press release.

Anonymous members - who include former Scientologists - are focusing on alleged “abuses” of the church’s intelligence agency, known as the Office of Special Affairs (OSA), says the release. It asks, “Why does something that describes itself as a religion need an intelligence agency that aggressively persecutes critics?”

According to the group, the OSA is charged with administering “justice and punishment” for the controversial faith, whose members include Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. The group charges that critics are “targeted, harassed, threatened and intimidated in an attempt to silence or punish them.”
“Most Scientologists are unaware of the functions of the OSA and accept what their leaders tell them about it,” says the release. “However, there is a growing body of evidence that OSA agents operate to attack perceived enemies by using infiltration, bribery, burglary and blackmail, in addition to threats, intimidation, assaults and worse.”

Due to fear of reprisals, Anonymous members are reluctant to give their names. One organizer, who goes by the nom de guerre of “93,” tells us the church has sent warning letters to “our more public members” calling them “‘terrorists.’ They’re attempting to stamp out our constitutional right to free speech.”
Scientology critic Mark Ebner charges that “armed private detectives hired by Scientology have invaded peaceful rallies.” A spokeswoman for the church didn’t return an e-mail seeking comment.

Last month in London, Sydney, Toronto and New York, Anonymous sponsored a pirate-theme protest that parodied Scientology’s private navy, the Sea Org. Or, as the demonstrators, called it, “Sea Aaargh.”

According to 93, protesters at the “Spy vs. Sci” rally will don costumes of characters like Austin Powers, James Bond and Modesty Blaise. What about that actor who starred in the “Mission: Impossible” movies?

“Nobody wants to be Tom Cruise,” she says.

THE CASE OF THE DOCTORED PUBLICITY PHOTO

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Tomfoolery: It appears that Tom Cruise isn’t putting all his eggs into the Valkyrie basket. Valkyrie, you’ll recall, is the Bryan Singer-directed thriller in which Cruise plays a German officer who tried to assassinate Hitler. That project has hit some bumps on its way to theaters.

Meanwhile, Cruise is also making an attempt to go back to his roots. But making that happen isn’t simple: It seems that the Cruise camp recently reached out to Paramount about making Mission: Impossible 4 and got seriously disavowed.

Paramount’s response was to ask whether Cruise would like to produce the film—as in, produce but not star in. And, since he’s contractually guaranteed the right to produce such a film at this point, it wasn’t much of an offer. This tells us not to read too much into that supposed rapprochement between Cruise and Sumner Redstone. And it suggests that the fighting between Cruise and Paramount studio chief Brad Grey over the deal for M:I3 was a lot more rancorous than we knew at the time.

We don’t want to keep you in suspense: Cruise’s answer was no. Our source tells us that Paramount met this with a shrug, since in the not-too-distant future the studio expects that it will be free, contractually, to make the movie without involving Cruise’s production company. Some film executives say they think Paramount is being foolish, because they believe there is an avid audience for Cruise in this role. After all, the last one grossed about $400 million worldwide. (Maybe M:I4 could pair Cruise with Shia LaBoeuf as the young successor.) But Paramount seems to think it could relaunch the franchise with a young star and leave Cruise out of the equation.

So back to Valkyrie. We’ve already delved into the drama surrounding this film, in which Cruise plays would-be Hitler assassin Claus von Stauffenberg. Somewhere along the line, someone mentioned that there had been bad press in Germany. Well, of course there was. Tom Cruise is a Scientologist, Germans don’t care for Scientology, and the subject of Valkyrie is a German hero. But this was different bad press. The rumor that our source had heard was that there was a kerfuffle because some people believed Cruise’s company, United Artists, had tweaked a photo of von Stauffenberg to heighten a postulated resemblance to Cruise.

Indeed, United Artists released a side-by-side photo comparison some months back in which the resemblance was striking.

Our (not definitive) search didn’t turn up any German press about this alleged photo tweaking. When we asked UA, the studio said that tweaking didn’t happen. We took a look at an AP photo and then at the image used by UA.

And we weren’t sure. So we submitted the pictures to our experts at Slate.

Jim Festante, a Slate designer, wrote: “Look @ the nose, mouth, and chin. Definite (but slight) altering. Also, the head’s width is squeezed slightly.” And then designer Holly Allen added this: “To me, the nose looks different and definitely the eyebrows. Cheekbones and angle of the chin, too.” Finally, as a coup de grace, designer Jacob Berlow overlaid the AP photo of von Stauffenberg with the United Artists version:

Looks like someone tweaked the photo. Finding out who may be mission: impossible.

Tom Cruise tricks out his rides into virtual tanks

Source: www.celebritymound.com

When it comes to his wife and kids, Tom Cruise puts safety first. That’s why, according to In Touch Weekly, the “Mission Impossible” star tricked out his collection of automobiles with pricey extras that make seemingly everyday SUVs more like virtual tanks.

“It sounds like (Tom’s) taken a page out of one of his action movies,” an insider told the magazine. “A-list celebrities know they can’t be too careful. Tom’s vehicles look perfectly normal, but in reality they are more like armored trucks. He really, really loves his cars and he can afford the best.”

“The best” is said to include top-of-the-line rides with bulletproof windows and bombproof features. Tom’s concern for the well-being of Katie Homes and his three children even prompted him to ensure that each of his drivers train in defensive maneuvers. Of course, when possible, Tom prefers to be in the driver’s seat himself.

“Tom is a car nut,” the source said. “He has practical everyday cars, classic collectibles and high-powered sports cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo. Of course he loves every minute behind the wheel, but he’s not stupid and he’s not going to take any chances while he’s driving.”

CELEBRITY REHAB DOCTOR APOLOGISES AFTER CRUISE REMARKS

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Dr Drew Pinsky, the Celebrity Rehab therapist, has apologised after questioning Tom Cruise’s mental health.

Pinsky, who treats substance-abusing celebrities such as Brigitte Nielsen on the reality shown, questioned why Cruise had been “drawn into a cultish kind of environment like Scientology” while being interviewed for the July issue of Playboy.

“To me, that’s a function of a very deep emptiness and suggests serious neglect in childhood — maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect,” he added.

Pinsky, who hosts the syndicated US radio show Loveline, has since issued an apology through his representative.

“Dr Drew meant no harm to Mr Cruise and apologizes if his comments were hurtful,” it read.

However, Cruise’s attorney Bert Fields has reacted angrily to Pinsky’s remarks, calling him a “posturing flake”.

“This unqualified television performer, who is obviously just looking for notoriety, is so grotesquely unprofessional as to pretend to diagnose Tom and others without ever meeting them,” he told the New York Post newspaper.

“He seems to be spewing the absurdity that all Scientologists are mentally ill. The last time we heard garbage like this was from Joseph Goebbels.”

The war of words has continued, with a new statement from Pinsky’s representative stressing that he “meant no harm”.

“Although Mr Fields’ intent is clearly to slander and discredit Dr Drew, under no circumstances is Dr Drew making a blanket diagnosis about Scientology nor Mr Cruise whom he does not know,” he said.

“Dr Drew was simply using Mr Cruise as an example of someone who is recognisable to help the public understand.”

In next month’s Playboy, Dr. Drew Pinsky, host of VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” says: “A lot of people in the public eye who behave strangely have mental illness we can learn from, and much of it is based on childhood trauma, without a doubt. Take a guy like Tom Cruise. Why would somebody be drawn into a cultish kind of environment like Scientology? To me, that’s a function of a very deep emptiness and suggests serious neglect in childhood - maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect.” Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, told us: “This unqualified television performer who is obviously just looking for notoriety is so grotesquely unprofessional as to pretend to diagnose Tom and others without ever meeting them. Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes Host A-List Housewarming Party

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes opened the doors of their new Beverly Hills mansion for an A-list housewarming party Saturday night.

The couple’s celebrity friends Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Brooke Shields, Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria Parker and Kyra Sedgwick were among the guests.

Holmes’ extended family – including her parents – came in from Ohio for the event and children Isabella, 15, Connor, 13, and Suri, 2, were there.

Cruise and Holmes purchased the 1.3-acre $35 million estate last summer and spent a year on renovations.

Guests – mostly in black cocktail attire – began arriving around 9 p.m. They were driven up the long driveway to a large fountain by a valet service.

The party was both indoors and outdoors. Over 50 staff members from Wolfgang Puck catered the event, which ended around 1 a.m.

On the back lawn, cocktails and appetizers were served to guests who sat on white couches under heat lamps. The trees were adorned with white lights and an orchestra played music.

Tobey Mcguire (Holmes’ co-star in 2000’s Wonder Boys), Winfrey’s BFF Gayle King, Rita Wilson, Jeremy Piven and Kirstie Alley also attended.

Shields arrived with husband Chris Henchy. The party was held on her 43rd birthday.

Holmes will make her debut on Broadway this fall in All My Sons.

Tom Cruise launches Web site….took him long enough

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Tom Cruise has launched a Web site devoted to himself: http://www.TomCruise.com.

Many stars have their own sites for fans, but Cruise’s belated entry to the Internet is of particular interest.

Few stars have seen themselves pilloried more on the Web than Cruise, who has watched numerous embarrassing moments ricochet around the Internet at warp speed. Who can forget watching the clips of Cruise appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” way back in June 2005, in the early days of Web 2.0?

The event — the beginning of Cruise’s publicity crisis — is alluded to on the new site, which links to his recent interview with Winfrey. Sitting at his Telluride, Colo., home, the talk show host refers to it as “the sofa incident.”

More than that, though, videos of Cruise speaking passionately about Scientology became viral hits earlier this year, prompting many parodies, including one by actor Jerry O’Connell.

So it makes sense that Cruise might want to protect his brand a little bit by using the great powers of the Internet. The site is in many ways standard for a celebrity. Among the features are a “message from Tom,” a glowing biography and handsome photographs.

The actor explains: “I created this site as a thank you, to you, for sharing the journey with me and to invite you to continue to explore what the future will bring.”

The occasion for his reflection is the 25th anniversary of “Risky Business,” his first starring role and the one that immediately made him a star. Posted for streaming is a video edited by the Museum of the Moving Image looking back on Cruise’s career.

“My hope with this site is to bring you in and share with you the fun I experience every day during the filmmaking process, from working with the script, to the making of the film through to what we finally see when we settle in our seats and the lights go down,” writes Cruise.

If Cruise really does this — if he uses his Web site like a filmmaking journal — it could be a delightful and illuminating perspective on what it’s like for a true megastar to make a movie. More likely, though, is infrequent postings and a less intimate perspective.

After all, even Cruise himself says he’s now more guarded after so much criticism over his religion and personal beliefs.

“When I’m dealing with my humanitarian issues, I’ll talk about my humanitarian issues,” Cruise told Winfrey. “And when I’m promoting a film, I’m just going to promote the film. And that’s just the way it’s going to be.”

His next starring role is as a World War II German officer in “Valkyrie.” Its release was recently pushed back four months until Feb. 13, 2009, which many read as a bad sign for the film. The buzz has been much better for a cameo he makes in the upcoming Ben Stiller comedy “Tropic Thunder.”

Nicole Kidman accuses Tom Cruise of “manipulating” their children

Nicole Kidman and Keith UrbanNicole Kidman has launched a scathing attack on ex-husband Tom Cruise — accusing the actor of “manipulating” their adopted children.

The actress, who’s expecting her first biological children with current husband Keith Urban, says Cruise — who she divorced in 2001 — has turned their adopted kids Isabella and Connor against her.

She says, “It’s a pity they have been manipulated by the father to distance themselves from me.”

The ‘Stepford Wives’ star, 40, also said that she missed the two children and felt sad that they were apart.

She said she tried to arrange a Mother’s Day visit but the kids ended up spending it with Tom and his wife Katie Holmes.

“They are closer to their new mom now,” she admitted.

Cruise Control: Tom Targets Baby Store

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Forget what you may have read in the past 18 months about the thousands of dollars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes spent on their baby, Suri, at luxury baby boutique Petit Tresor.

Just pretend you didn’t read about the $45,000 eggshell-blue-themed baby room with a custom-made antique crib and blue walls with floating clouds. Or the spring dresses and T-shirt sets that read “Big Sister.”

That’s because you weren’t supposed to learn the details of their shopping habits, and Cruise and Holmes are taking steps to make sure of that.

After one of Cruise’s entertainment lawyers sent a tough letter to the Los Angeles store, accusing it of leaking confidential and false information that the couple had spent $350,000-400,000 at the store on their daughter, store owner Samantha Winch reached out and made peace.

“We didn’t leak any information,” Winch told ABCNEWS.com. “We don’t leak. It’s our policy not to discuss our celebrity clientele.”

Winch said that she has conducted an “internal investigation” of her staff and is convinced that none of the staffers at her stores leaked the information. The store’s other celebrity clients include Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera.

So, where did the information come from? “One of the shops is on Robertson Boulevard, and there are paparazzi up and down the street all the time,” she said.

As for the amount spent at the store, Winch said that Cruise and Holmes have spent significantly less than the reported amount.

Cruise lawyer Aaron J. Moss said he takes Winch at her word.

“We have been contacted by the store, which has assured us that they will not mention them in the future.”

As for Winch’s claims that none of her employees have leaked information, Moss said that Life & Style magazine printed an on-the-record comment from one of the store’s representatives.

At this point, there is no indication of a lawsuit and “we think it’s been resolved,” Moss said.

While it is common for celebrities to request confidentiality when it comes to their private lives, breaches of privacy do not usually end up in court unless they involve medical records or intimate family secrets.

UCLA Medical Center fired 13 workers and disciplined another 12 for improperly obtaining the Spears’ records when she stayed at the hospital’s neuropsychiatric unit last year. One rogue employee snuck a look at the confidential files of 32 celebrities and high-profile patients in 2006 and 2007.

In 2006, Lopez sued ex-husband Ojani Noa for violating a confidentiality agreement by publishing a book with private details about their relationship. Previously, Noa had sued the singer, claiming that she had fired him as manager of her restaurant without cause.

And Rob Lowe and his wife recently sued two former nannies and an ex-chef, claiming they violated confidentially agreements by divulging personal information about the couple. One of the nannies countersued, claiming that she was sexually harassed, which the Lowes denied.

Victoria Beckham defends Cruise friendship

Source: www.showbizspy.com

Victoria BeckhamVictoria Beckham has chastised critics who have accused her of only forging a close friendship with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to further her acting career.

The former Spice Girl became firm friends with the Cruise family when she and her soccer ace husband David moved to Los Angeles in July 2007.

Since the Hollywood move, the Wannabe hitmaker has made a transition to the small screen, making a number of guest appearances - most notably on hit comedy Ugly Betty.

But Beckham insists she is not interested in a Hollywood acting career because she is well aware of her lack of skills in front of the camera - and has snubbed several film roles as a result.

She says, “I’m happy doing what I’m doing right now. I’m a terrible actress. Everyone thinks I’m only friends with Tom and Katie to be in a movie but it’s not true. I’ve turned down lots of roles.”

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ lawyer send cease-and-desist threat to Petit Tresor

Source: www.showbizspy.com

Tom Cruise and Katie HolmesTom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ lawyer has sent a cease-and-desist threat to the owner of posh baby boutique Petit Tresor for allegedly giving the tabloids bogus info about their spending habits.

In a letter to owner Samantha Winch, dated May 12, the couple’s attorney, Aaron J. Moss, accuses the store’s employees of both violating their clients’ privacy and giving out “simply false” information that Holmes and Cruise spent between $350,000 and $400,000 in their stores to Life & Style magazine “for the purpose of enhancing [the store’s] image and obtaining a commercial advantage.”

However, a Petit Tresor spokesman says they were asked by a reporter for an estimation of how much the Cruises have spent on gear for their 2-year-old daughter Suri, but they “never mentioned that this $350-$400K figure included anything purchased at Petit Tresor.”

But Cruise’s reps feel differently.

“Petite Tresor is trying to get publicity for themselves by telling the press that celebrities are shopping in their store when they’re not,” a rep for the Top Gun star told E! News.

“To the credit of Life & Style, they tried to verify and chose not to run inaccurate information.”

And the lawyer is now advising the store to keep to its word and “not talk about” their clients.

“Please do not say anything (whether true or false) about Mr. Cruise’s and Ms. Holmes’ shopping habits, consistent with your representation to the New York Daily News in December 2007 that ‘We don’t talk about any of our clients,” Moss’ letter concludes.

Tom Cruise and Katie HolmesHollywood couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been urged to seek medical advice over fears they could be infected with dangerous levels of deadly asbestos.

The pair — who have a two-year-old daughter, Suri — were partying with fellow Scientologist John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston on the Church Of Scientology cruise ship — which was later discovered to have dangerous levels of blue asbestos.

As health officials warn the superstar couple to get checked out, toxicologist Dr. Chris Coggins explains: “This is the most dangerous type of asbestos because the fibers are smaller than the white asbestos and can penetrate the lung more easily.

“Once diagnosed with mesothelioma, the victim has six months to a year to live. It gradually reduces lung function until the victim is no longer able to breathe and dies.”

The Church of Scientology cruise ship is often used to host birthday parties and events but is said to be undergoing tests for safety following the discovery of asbestos in its paneling.

Tom Cruise buys Katie Holmes exclusive golf membership

Tom Cruise and Katie HolmesTom Cruise has reportedly splashed out $150,000 on an exclusive golf club membership for his wife Katie Holmes, in the hope it will endear him to the actress’ disapproving father.

The ‘Top Gun’ star, 45, is trying to bond with his father-in-law by playing golf; and has offered to buy Katie a membership at Los Angeles’ prestigious Bel-Air Country Club — so they can all play with her father, Martin Holmes.

A source said: “Katie’s father is not crazy about Tom, but Tom is really determined to win him over. Mr. Holmes golfs a lot, and now Katie is learning to play.

“Tom is a member at Bel-Air, and he’s in the process of adding Katie to his membership so Katie can take her dad to play with her.

“Adding Katie to his membership is costing Tom $150,000 a year. That’s a pretty expensive way to try to impress your father-in-law - unless you’re Tom Cruise!”

Although Martin has never spoken out about Tom, sources claim he was unhappy when his daughter started dating the actor in 2005.

He reportedly thought he was a bad influence as he encouraged Katie to join the bizarre sci-fi religion of Scientology, despite her devout Catholic upbringing.

Katie Holmes and her “husband” Tom Cruise were recently snapped attending an LA Galaxy soccer game. Tommy is clipped out of the shot but we can assume he was pitching a tent for his main squeeze, David Beckham.

Plastic Robot Katie has a nice new haircut. It looks like alien baby Suri cut it for her. I am also enjoying her red robot dress.
