The release date of Tom Cruise’s Valkyrie has been pushed back again.

Originally slated for a June release, and then an October release, the action film set during World War II will now hit theaters for President’s Day weekend.

When it opens on February 13, 2009, Valkyrie will compete with Confessions of a Shopaholic and Pink Panther 2.

“MGM is proud and excited to be presenting ‘Valkyrie,’ and because of that we want to give it the best launch possible,” said Clark Woods, President of Domestic Distribution of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, which is distributing the movie domestically. “When an opening became available for President’s Day Weekend, we seized the opportunity. Having seen a lot of the film and how great it is going to play once it’s finished, moving into a big holiday weekend is the right move.

“‘Valkyrie’ is shaping up to be a phenomenal movie,” said Dennis Rice, President of Worldwide Marketing and Publicity for United Artists, which made the movie. “We’re delighted that MGM has agreed to hold the release until the very strong holiday weekend.”

In the film, Cruise stars as Colonel Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg, the leader of the unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler in July 1944 with a bomb hidden in a briefcase.

Jennifer Lopez wants to Tom Cruise to be godfather to her newborn twins.

The ‘Jenny From The Block’ singer — who gave birth to son Max and daughter Emme on February 22 — has convinced husband Marc Anthony to give Tom the role despite their differences in religious beliefs. Tom, a devout follower of the mysterious religion of Scientology; Lopez and Anthony Catholic.

You may or may not have heard: last week Tom Cruise and his former boss, Sumner Redstone, broke bread. They had lunch some 18 months after Redstone didn’t pick up Cruise’s contract as on-lot producer.

The reason was that Redstone had had enough of Cruise the couch-jumping Scientologist who berated Matt Lauer on the “Today” show. That was in addition to the strange Katie Holmes courtship and marriage and so on.

But now I am told that a renewed Paramount deal for Cruise and a possible “Mission: Impossible 4” are not so likely. For one thing, sources tell me it was Cruise who called Redstone, not the other way around. Things, you see, have not gone so well.

Since Cruise’s departure, he’s made the terrible box-office flop “Lions for Lambs” under his new deal with MGM/United Artists. More importantly, if Redstone allows Cruise back, he will be returning after the release this fall of “Valkyrie,” in which he plays Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, the real-life would-be assassin of Adolf Hitler, with an eye patch, a withered limb and — according to the $100 million film’s trailer — a California accent reminiscent of Jerry Maguire.

“Valkyrie” is a set up for not only failure, but ridicule. Take for example this line of dialogue that is spoken to Cruise/Claus by one of his Nazi associates: “When the SS catches you they will pull you apart like warm bread.” (Translation: he’ll be toast.)

The Valkyrie trailer already shows what a misguided idea this movie is. A description of the film’s story ends with the words “He Must Kill Hitler Himself.” Unless director Bryan Singer and writer Christopher McQuarrie have completely changed history, the actual story is not quite that: not only did von Stauffenberg botch the assassination plot, but then he was killed by Hitler.

Even more damaging to Cruise’s career already this year were the Scientology videos that popped up this winter following publication of Andrew Morton’s scathing biography of the diminutive former box-office draw. The videos show Cruise touting Scientology, proclaiming himself to be a kind of superhero and accepting an award in 2004. The eeriest clip can be found on YouTube.

The videos prompted dozens of parodies all over the Internet, all mocking Cruise. It’s not clear if he could be accepted again as an action hero, someone the audience is willing to root for, after being the butt of so many jokes.

The fact that Cruise groveled in public with Redstone would indicate that the actor knows just how bad “Valkyrie” is and that he’s trying to shore up his future before the eye patch hits the fan this fall. Certainly, a signed $20 million contract from Paramount would be insurance against this unavoidable disaster destroying his career.

It also begs the question about Cruise’s career agenda as it stands now. Beyond “Valkyrie,” he’s filmed a cameo in Ben Stiller’s “Tropic Thunder” wearing a fat suit. A preview of the film received a tepid response at aintitcoolnews.com — it’s a movie within a movie, always a bad concept as inside jokes go for the general audience.

He’s also attached to a comedy called “Men” to be directed by the less-than-elegant Todd Phillips (“Old School,” “Starsky and Hutch”). With yet another ill-conceived Ben Stiller project festering — “The Hardy Men” — it’s clear someone has decided this is Tom Cruise’s future. It’s paralyzing to think someone may have plotted this for him.

And it’s not like Cruise will find a lot of support at Paramount for his insta-return. Sources say that while the new folks running the studio would like to revive “Mission: Impossible,” they’ve been thinking more of a new young star, or an “M:I” team the way it was originally portrayed in the TV series.

“Would I like to do Mission: Impossible”? asked one Paramount exec rhetorically. “Yes, but not starring Tom Cruise.”

Tom Cruise surprised cast and crew on set of the new ‘Star Trek’ movie this week, after stopping by to see pal J.J. Abrams.

Cruise’s visit fueled rumors the actor, 45, would be making a cameo in the new Sci-Fi flick.

“Tom visited the set of the movie and chatted with J.J. Abrams,” a source close to the actor tells MSNBC.com’s The Scoop.

The last time the ‘Top Gun’ star was set of a movie he wasn’t said to be signed on for — Tropic Thunder — it turned out he had a small role.

The visit to the Star Trek set, however, was for pleasure, not business.

“He asked J.J. if there’s a way he can meet Leonard Nimoy. He said he’d always really respected his work,” said the source.

Star Trek is due for release in summer 2009; Tropic Thunder hits theaters this August; and Cruise’s historical thriller film Valkyrie will be released in October.

“Katie doesn’t get enough sleep — and hasn’t for months now,” says one insider. “She’s tired and drained much of the day because Tom is so wired, and they stay awake until after midnight. He has boundless energy, and she just can’t compete.”

Katie Holmes is panicking that she can’t give Tom Cruise a second child — and is desperate to try IVF treatment, it has been claimed.

Katie — who is frantically trying to get pregnant to please Tom and to give Suri a brother or sister — pleaded with the actor to let her try IVF, but due to his devotion to Scientology, and the church’s disapproval of fertility treatment, her requests have fallen on deaf ears.

The Top Gun star — who has two adopted children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman — seeks Scientology advice on all aspects of family life, which is making Katie’s dream of having another child very difficult.

A source said: “Katie’s concerned about Suri being lonely as she’s kept in a bit of a Scientology bubble.

“She wants her to have a playmate.

“On top of that, Tom’s made it clear that he wants another child — and what Tom wants he usually gets.

“Family is very important in Scientology and that was once of the reasons Tom chose Kate as a wife — because she was young and healthy and as keen to have children as he was.

“The problem is that Katie struggled to conceive a second time and she doesn’t know what to do about it.

After a bout sickness last month, Katie, 29, thought she might have been pregnant — but after a scan — she found it to be false alarm.

“Tom keeps telling her to focus on Scientology methods of creating ‘positive energy’ to become pregnant,” the source added to Britain’s Now magazine,” which he’s convinced worked the first time around, but Katie’s losing patience.

“She’s getting frantic and the worst thing is she knows that the more stressed she becomes, the less likely she is to conceive.”

Katie’s desire to undergo IVF has caused tension between her and Tom, as the controversial religion of Scientology — of which Tom, 45, is a devout follower — frowns upon fertility treatment.

Before seeking medical help of any kind, a couple must first go to church officials and undertake an “auditing” session.

According to reports, the hormone medication Katie would have under IVF treatment is against the ethos of strict Scientologists, who reserve most of their apathy for psychiatric medication, and believe drugs are ‘essentially poisons’.

Adds the source: “Katie feels she’s caught between a rock and a hard place at the moment.

“She desperately wants another child to please Tom and give Suri a companion, but that just isn’t happening by itself.

“Time is ticking away,” the source says of the pair - who are preparing to celebrate Suri’s second birthday next month, “and the next time Katie has a scan, she really hopes it’ll show that she’s expecting another child.”

THE Church of Scientology is striking back at a group that’s been harassing it.

The wacky religion - which claims Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Juliette Lewis and Leah Remini as members - has been the target of a group calling itself “Anonymous,” whose members take credit for bombarding Scientology churches across the country with prank calls, bomb threats and cyber attacks since January.

But now the church has counterattacked by posting YouTube videos under the title, “Anonymous Facts,” detailing the death threats from Anonymous and identifying its members, who are labeled “terrorists” although they look more like frat boys.

The main four-minute-long video, titled “Anonymous - Hate Crimes and Terrorism Directed at Scientology” - is described as the “Scientology Official Report on Anonymous Hate Crimes.”

It features a menacing voice-over that describes the group’s attacks in detail. “January 2008. A message from ‘Anonymous’ is sent to the Church of Scientology.”

The voice-over continues: “Their attacks start on Jan. 17th. They illegally bring down the Church of Scientology Public Information Web site. Jan. 18th. Two hundred and forty one harassing phone calls. Obscene faxes. Death threats. E-mail threats. Bomb threat. Envelopes containing an unknown white powder resembling anthrax are delivered to 24 churches.”

The narrator goes on and on, then names men they claim are members of the group.

“Any Anonymous member may be an accessory to these criminal acts. Many of their identities are known,” the videos say.

Ryan Benno from Valencia, Calif., is shown, as well as Jonathan Brown from Tarzana, Calif., who is making a goofy face in his photo, and Sean Carasov from Los Angeles. None of the men in the videos could be reached for comment.

A spokesperson for the Church of Scientology said, “We absolutely made the videos.”

“We have researchers that have found these men. When you get death threats and bomb threats directly going after the church, we don’t take it lightly.”

Katie Holmes has told friends she feels like a “prisoner in my own home”.

The former Dawson’s Creek actress reportedly made the comments after her husband, Tom Cruise, announced plans to have a $1.3m security system installed at their $40m Los Angeles home - dubbed ‘Cruise Castle’ by friends.

A source close to the actress - who fears the star will have no personal space away from domineering Tom, said: “Because of his high profile, his children and his Scientology connections, Tom believes his family is vulnerable to potential kidnappers, stalkers and crazed fans.

“Katie will barely be able to move around her own home without being monitored by cameras and electrical devices.”

Tom and Katie have almost completely rebuilt their home since they bought it in May last year.

“There will be codes and devices that only Tom will have the secret information to operate,” adds the sources - who also said that Cruise, 45, learned about the high tech security systems while filming the Mission Impossible films. “It’s incredible how safe this house is now.

“Katie, who led a carefree life before she met Tom, says it’ll be like a prison.

“Every move she makes inside or outside their house will be recorded.

Friends of Katie, 29, are already concerned she doesn’t have enough freedom from the Top Gun star, who they claim, approves her friends, her trips, screens her calls, controls her spending, and decides when and who they go out with.

“At home she would often go to a bedroom of her own and spend hours there with Suri,” the friend tells Britain’s Now magazine in its latest issue. “Now she says she’ll feel as though there is no escape from Tom’s controlling ways.

“You can escape the eyes of another person by going to a different part of the house.

“But [Katie] knows she can’t escape the roving eyes of the cameras that are constantly sweeping the house.”

Within the grounds of the couple’s house, there’s a small guard house; 24/7 cameras; floodlights activated by movement; and guard dogs. An electric fence around the grounds was, however, ruled out - but a moat inside of the compound will surround the 13,000sq ft mansion if permission is granted.

“Even that wasn’t enough for Tom,” adds the source. “He wanted to build a fortress that couldn’t be breached - and that’s what he’s done.”

He told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio show: “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.

“I saw the reports online. I did DJ at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding - so I guess somebody thought it would  have been a funny story to make up.

Katie Holmes thinks her husband Tom Cruise is “hot” when he’s flying a plane.

The former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star - who, in 2006, married Tom - who famously took to the sky in the 1986 film ‘Top Gun’ - says she finds the the actor’s ability to pilot a jumbo jet a real turn-on.

A lingerie model turned private eye has become the crucial witness in the trial of a private eye accused of snooping for A-list stars like Tom Cruise.

Tarita Virtue - named the “Sexiest Private Investigator in America” by Maxim magazine - is taking center stage in the trial against Anthony Pellicano.

Pellicano, who is defending himself against wiretapping and racketeering charges, has worked for lawyers who represented Cruise, John Travolta, Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor.

The FBI accuse Pellicano, 63, of raking in over $2 million by spying on Hollywood’s rich and famous, then blackmailing them by threatening to supply dirt to their rivals.

Tarita, who says she has now given up the private eye work, testified that former LAPD Sgt. Mark Arneson was given a “wad of cash” each time he conducted a background check.

Virtue, who started working for Pellicano in 2000, also said he had an elaborate computer password system to secure his files, which he identified individually with code names.

One such file - named “cruise missile” - referred to the “Mission Impossible” star, Virtue said.

Virtue also said that data were typically entered into the computer and that the paper trail of documents - supplied to them by Arneson - was then destroyed.

During opening arguments, Arneson’s lawyer, Chad Hummel, admitted his client “crossed the line” but said Arneson did not know that Pellicano was going to use the information supplied to him to blackmail others.

Prosecutors have said Arneson pocketed more than $180,000 in exchange for documents containing Social Security numbers and rap sheets.

Pellicano said during his opening remarks Thursday that customers in the entertainment industry paid him well because they knew he would “perform” for them.

Virtue, who is to continue her testimony next week, said she listened to wiretaps and transcribed the conversations.

“We had clients, and whoever the client wanted us to investigate, this is who I listened to,” said Virtue.

The former Dawson’s Creek star - who got engaged to Cruise in 2005 & married him the following year - says it was love at first sight when she first laid eyes on the Top Gun star.

Actress Katie Holmes has fueled pregnancy rumors - after turning up to the Costume Designers Guild Awards and the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards wearing loose-fitting dresses, and showing the hint of a bump.

The ‘Michael Clayton’ star thinks Tom - who has been universally mocked for following the bizarre cult of Scientology - will be less of a joke if he can learn to laugh at himself.

He said: “I talked to Tom the other day, and he’s a good egg. There’s nothing self-serving about what he’s saying. He has to turn it into a way to make fun of himself.”

George also revealed he has mastered the skill of disguising his annoyance with a public sense of humour.

He added to Time magazine: “I don’t talk about my personal life. People say they won’t talk about their personal life. And then they do.

“And even when the tabloids say really bad things and it pisses you off and you know it’s not true, you have to at least publicly have a sense of humor about it. That’s how you have to deal with it.”

Gladiator star Russell Crowe is renting a new LA pad - and it’s Tom Cruise’s old house.

The Oscar winning actor could be splashing out as much as $125,000 a month on the Beverly Hills mansion - the price the home was recently listed for.

But while Cruise and wife Katie Holmes kept a low profile behind the large iron gates, Crowe happily strolls round the neighborhood with his family and visits the local park.

Aussie Crowe, 43, is living in Los Angeles for three months while he films new movie State of Play alongside Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren. Crowe replaced Brad Pitt in the role of Cal McCaffrey after the Fight Club star left the projects over complaints about the script.

It can now be revealed that he is living in Cruise’s former mansion, which is nestled in a leafy part of Beverly Hills, close to the celebrity homes of David and Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez. The 10,000 square foot pad was built in the 1920s, with stained and leaded glass windows and crown moldings.

The Tudor-style stone house, with a slate roof, is built on four acres of land with a long private driveway and motor court that can park more than 20 cars. The house also features extensive gardens, a green lawn the size of a football field and a proper English rose garden with a large fountain.

The Beverly Hills home has extensive movie history. Not only was it the place rented by film legend Tom Cruise for years, it was also used to film scenes from movie Blow. In the 2001 flick, the sprawling mansion was owned by Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz’s characters.

While Cruise, who has since moved round the corner, rented the home for $75,000 a month, the property has recently been listed for a massive $125,000 a month. But real estate sources believe the kid-friendly property will suit the Beautiful Mind actor down to the ground. “Tom made numerous renovations during the years that he rented the Beverly Hills home,” the source said.

“He put in a home theater so he could screen movies and he turned the guest house into a children’s playroom for Suri.

“The house also has a large swimming pool at the back, which is perfect now the LA weather is warming up.

“The home may be pricey, but it’s clearly perfect for a family man.”

Crowe has been spotted walking around the neighborhood on numerous occasions with his wife Danielle Spencer and their sons Charlie and Tennyson.

An eyewitness said: “It’s so unusual to see so much activity from that place.

“When Tom lived there you never saw him - unless it was in a blacked out SUV.

“Russell just comes and goes as he pleases - on foot - and visits the local park with his family.

“He is clearly a fan of the neighborhood and wants to make the most of the three months he has here.”

Hollywood couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are planning to swap their residence at Scientology’s Celebrity Center for a swanky Beverly Hills mansion.

The couple - who are currently shacked up in one of the Center’s plush apartments, will reportedly change their address on Mar 1 - when they make the move to their freshly decorated new home.

“Mar. 1 is D-Day,” a source close to the couple says. “Katie is especially anxious to have all the work done and be moved in.”

Although the palatial home was move-in ready when they bought it, the wealthy pair wanted to add a state-of-the-art security system as well as refurnish and redecorate the entire house.

“Katie’s interests in fashion and art are really coming into play. You can see her influences throughout,” the source adds to OK! Magazine.
