A couple weeks ago, we heard that Christina Applegate was battling breast cancer. Well, she beat it! In an interview airing on “Good Morning America” tomorrow, Christina said, “I’m clear. Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean. It did not spread. They got everything out, so I’m definitely not going to die from breast cancer.”

Christina said she underwent a double mastectomy, even though the cancer was detected it only one breast. She said, “My decision, after looking at all the treatment plans that were possibilities for me, the only one that seemed the most logical and the one that was going to work for me was to have a bilateral mastectomy. So basically I had a prophylactic double mastectomies. I didn’t want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything. I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing for me. This was the choice that I made, and it was a tough one.” She chose not to undergo chemotherapy.

Hey Ladies! It’s great that Christina overcame this, but we should all take heed! Early detection saved Kelly Bundy’s life - so get tested!

Cast members returning for 30th `Dallas’ reunion

Source: www.celebritymound.com

J.R., Bobby, Sue Ellen and other members of the Ewing clan are getting back together for a “Dallas” reunion party.

Cast members of the popular prime-time soap opera that ran from 1978-91 will return to the Southfork Ranch north of Dallas on Nov. 8 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the show. Several key actors, including Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy, have confirmed they will attend.

Hagman, who played central character J.R. Ewing, a scheming oil baron and cattle rancher, said he is looking forward to the event.

“I may not be able to do the 40th,” said Hagman, 76, in an interview with The Dallas Morning News. “Thirty years is pretty good, and the show is still very popular.”

The reunion at the ranch in suburban Parker, north of Dallas, is open to the public. Tickets go on sale Aug. 22 and will cost between $100 and $1,000. The event will include fireworks, a country music concert, a question-and-answer session with the cast and tours of the mansion.

The show is perhaps best known for the “who shot J.R.?” cliffhanger that concluded the 1979-1980 season in which Hagman’s character was blasted within an inch of his life. (The shooter turned out to be J.R. Ewing’s sister-in-law, Kristin.)

“Dallas” featured the antics of a wealthy Texas clan that punched, slapped, drank, cavorted and schemed to gain control of the family fortune. The reunion promises to be tamer.

“Larry and I will have a bowl of Mueslix and a small shot of prune juice and be in bed by 9 o’clock,” Duffy, who played Bobby Ewing, told the newspaper. “We’ll let people file by the bed and watch us go to sleep. I think we can hang with the best of them until midnight.”

The Naked Truth About Anna Faris

Source: www.celebritymound.com

From high school geek to hot blonde on the cover of Playboy!

Welcome to Anna Faris’ life.

The funny bombshell has landed the cover of the men’s magazine for two reasons: She stars as a Playboy Bunny who moves into a sorority house in the upcoming comedy The House Bunny, and, well, she’s friggin’ hot!

But Faris, 31, wasn’t always so confident about her looks…

“I felt unattractive, short and self-conscious about my body, and I would purposely emphasize that by doing odd things,” she tells the magazine (it hits newsstands on Friday) about her teenage years. “I wore glasses, braces, odd hairdos and dumpy clothes…When I was a freshman I wore a Christmas-tree skirt as a cape. I couldn’t get any dates until senior year.”

While Faris doesn’t appear nude in Playboy, she actually told me recently she was definitely tempted to strip down for the mag.

“I felt really sexy,” she told me of the shoot. “I found myself totally getting into it. I was like, ‘Let’s just take it all off.’ ” (Her publicist convinced her otherwise.)

No surprise, but Faris wears body-bearing barely there outfits for most of the flick.

“I was working out hard,” Faris said about getting in shape for the flick. “My boyfriend was like, ‘Baby, you got to eat. You’re losing your butt.’ ”
The House Bunny is the first full-length feature allowed to shoot at Hugh Hefner’s legendary Playboy Mansion. “It was my first time there,” Faris said. “It was surreal. There were randomly placed jars of baby oil but no babies that I knew of…It was great: peacocks, monkeys, hot girls and old men in pajamas! It was awesome.”

The horrific moment Olympic weightlifter turns his elbow back to front

Source: www.celebritymound.com

This is the moment Hungarian weightlifter Janos Baranyai’s first Olympics ended in agony when he dislocated his right elbow in the ugliest moment yet of the Olympic weightlifting competition.

Baranyai was trying to snatch 148kg in his third lift in the men’s 77kg division, when his elbow popped out of its socket.

No longer able to support the weight of the barbell, his right forearm bent backward. The 24-year-old Hungarian fell to the floor in shock, shaking and crying out in pain.

Hungary’s coaching staff and competition officials rushed to Baranyai’s aid as he lay trembling on the floor, his arm limp and twisted out of position.

Baranyai was carried off the platform on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment, said Benny Johansson, a technical controller at the event.

It was not immediately clear how serious the injury was.

It looked really awful,’ Johansson said. ‘If the ligaments are damaged then it could take several months to heal.”

He said elbow and knee injuries are the most common injuries in the sport, ‘but the number of injuries are quite small in comparison with the number of athletes. You cannot even compare it with football for example.’

A former judo wrestler from Oroszlany, Hungary, Baranyai was competing with the so-called B-group of lifters in the 77kg division.

Hungary’s lone lifter in the Olympics, he was ninth in both the snatch and clean and jerk in the European Championship earlier this year and placed 33rd in last year’s world championship.

He cleared his first snatch attempts at 140kg and 145kg before loading up the bar at 148kg - a relatively modest weight in top-level competition. The world record in the snatch is 173kg.

In the snatch, the bar is pulled overhead in one continuous motion as the lifter settles into a squat, then rises with arms extended.

Baranyai was in the squat position when his elbow popped.

Michael Phelps: ‘Greatest Olympian of All Time!’

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Michael Phelps continued his gold rush Wednesday, winning two more gold medals and smashing two world records.

The wins – his 10th and 11th career golds – make him with winningest Olympian in history. As the announcer at the National Aquatics Center declared, that makes him “arguably the greatest Olympian of all time.” (The comment earned a smile from Phelps, who remained stoic for most of the day’s competition.)

The day began less than auspiciously, when Phelps’s goggles filled up with water during the 200-meter butterfly. The 23-year-old still won handily – in a world-record time of 1:52.03 – but he was visibly annoyed after he touched the wall.

“I couldn’t see anything for the last 100 [meters],” Phelps said afterward. “It just kept getting worse and worse through the race.”

Although he was disappointed in his time, Phelps begrudgingly admitted, “for the circumstances, I guess it’s not too bad.”

Actually, it got much better. Later in the day, Phelps led off the U.S. 800 freestyle relay. The team – which included Ryan Lochte, Ricky Berens and Peter Vanderkaay – won gold in under 7 minutes, with a mark of 6:58.56. (That shattered the Americans’ previous world record by 3.63 seconds.)

“It’s everything I ever dreamed about,” Phelps said of winning his second relay gold in Beijing. “On the podium, I kept tearing [up] at it. I’m almost at a loss for words …. It’s the best thing having four American guys … swim all well together.”

The gold medals give Phelps his fourth and fifth wins in China – putting him more than halfway toward his historic quest of claiming eight victories in the Games. (American swimmer Mark Spitz holds the current record of seven gold medals in a single Summer Olympics.)

“From now on, it’s just a downward slope,” Phelps said. “The end is close. I love it! I’ve still got some left in the tank.”

Boris Becker celebrates engagement to girlfriend 16 years his junior

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Boris Becker took to the seas to celebrate his engagement to his girlfriend of a month - who was just a one-year-old baby when he first conquered the Centre Court in 1985.

The couple appear to have no regrets over the decision to get married as they enjoyed an afternoon sunbathing on a speedboat.

The happy pair made no attempt at hiding their joy as Alessandra ‘Sandy’ Meyer-Woelden showed off her sparkling diamond ring.

Boris, 40, popped the question to beautiful Alessandra, 24, the daughter of his late manager Axel Meyer-Woelden, at the weekend.

He proposed to her on the island of Sardinia, Sandy said last night in Germany.

The two have been rumoured to be a pair since early this month after paparazzi caught them on the Spanish island of Formentera and later on Sardinia.

They first met when her father, Axel, was Becker’s manager. He died in 1997.

The engaged couple are set to fly to New York to plan their nuptials but they have yet to release additional details.

‘Our relationship is completely serious,’ she said.

The tennis star married Barbara Feltus in 1993 and the couple had two sons, Noah Gabriel, 14, and Elias Balthasar, 8, before the marriage ended acrimoniously in 2001.

Becker’s divorce from Barbara reportedly cost him £10 million. He gave her their £1.8 million apartment on Florida’s Fisher Island, several hundred thousand pounds worth of jewels and pays £4,000 a month in maintenance for his sons.

In 2000, he was forced to confess to fathering a daughter with Angela Ermakova after having sex in a broom closet with her in a London hotel.

He has also dated German rapper Sabrina Setlur and dancer Caroline Rocher.

‘I can’t ask every woman I fall in love with to marry me after six months.

‘Rather than cause disappointments I think it’s important to be above-board,’ Becker said during an interview in 2006.

Peaches Geldof marries her rocker boyfriend in Las Vegas

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Peaches Geldof has married an unknown American musician after a whirlwind romance lasting just a few weeks.

The 19-year-old tied the knot with Max Drummey in a Las Vegas wedding chapel last week.

In a statement, the couple said they were ‘delighted to announce their very happy marriage’.

The news comes as a shock, because just last month Peaches was publicly declaring her love for another man, Faris Badwan, the 21-year-old frontman of The Horrors.

But her father Bob Geldof, 56, told the Mail last night that he gave the marriage his full support adding: ‘I have nothing further to add to what has been set out in the statement.’

It is believed he did not know about the wedding until the last minute.

Critics have already branded the nuptials a publicity stunt, as Drummey’s band, Chester French, is launching its first album next month.

The statement about the wedding was littered with plugs for Mr Drummey’s band. It went on: ‘Max’s band, Chester French, played at the ITV iTunes festival (in London in June), where Peaches was a co-presenter of the show.

‘The acclaimed new Boston band were signed by Pharrell Williams to his label Star Track, a subsidiary of the giant Interscope Label. Their marriage has the full support of their family and friends.’

Peaches first met Max, 23, a Harvard graduate in anthropology, two years ago, according to her statement.

The ‘quickie’ ceremony took place last Tuesday at the Little White Wedding Chapel, with the Reverend Stephen Fabretti officiating. The couple had applied for their marriage licence at the Clark County Marriage Licence Bureau that morning.

Mr Fabretti said: ‘They both looked very young. They were cuddling and kissing and didn’t look in the slightest bit nervous. It was just them and one witness. It was one of our standard services inside the chapel.’

The Little White Wedding Chapel is world famous for its drive-through ‘quickie’ celebrity weddings. Others to have married there include Britney Spears, Joan Collins and Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.

Peaches’ behaviour appears to have been spiralling out of control in recent months. In July, she was reportedly treated by paramedics after a suspected drugs overdose at her home. And earlier this year, she was videoed allegedly handing over money for drugs. She was not charged by police.

Her father has jumped to her defense in the past saying that she is a ‘good kid’ who has always done well in her school exams.

But others have expressed concern that she is going down the same route as her mother, Paula Yates, who died of an accidental drugs overdose in her Notting Hill house in September 2000.

Last night, Peaches’ publicist said she was on a flight back to Britain while her new husband continues his U.S. tour.

She has apparently been a fan of his music since they met, regularly posting notes on the band’s MySpace page.

In July they met up again when Miss Geldof, 19, presented ITV2’s coverage of the iTunes Festival.

The pair were spotted together on a night at the popular Maddox club and were later seen heading back to her North London apartment.

But until last month Miss Geldof was dating Badwan. In a recent interview, she wore a small Victorian photo frame containing a black and white portrait of him.

She said: ‘He’s completely gorgeous and I’m totally in love. He is a very calming influence and makes me happy.’

Mr Drummey graduated from Harvard in anthropology last year, but the success of Chester French - which he formed with his college roommate DA Wollach - meant he opted to pursue a career in music.

His father said last night that he was happy about the wedding.

Paul Drummey, 50, said: ‘We’re very happy for them both. We have met Peaches and we are very happy to have her as part of the family. It’s true that they married in Las Vegas last week.’

Sheriff’s department: Hayes likely died of stroke

Authorities in Memphis say Isaac Hayes apparently died of a stroke. The deep-voiced soul singer died Sunday after he was found unconscious at his Memphis residence.

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Shular said Tuesday that paperwork filed by Hayes’ family physician, Dr. David Kraus, lists the cause of death as a stroke.

Shular said no autopsy has been performed. No official determination has been released by the medical examiner’s office or filed with the Memphis health department, which issues death certificates.

Family members found Hayes lying on the floor of his home beside a treadmill that was still switched on. Relatives said Hayes was under a doctor’s care but did not give specifics.

Actor Arrested In Knife Attack On Ex-Girlfriend

Source: www.celebritymound.com

An actor who played a supporting role in the movie the “40 Year Old Virgin” was arrested on suspicion of knifing his ex-girlfriend at her San Marcos home Monday, officials told NBC 7/39.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Shelley Malil, a resident of Sherman Oaks, was taken into custody at the Oceanside Amtrak station in connection with the attack around 6 p.m.

The sheriff’s department said the stabbing took place on Sunday just before 9 p.m. in the 1800 block of Shade Tree Drive in San Marcos. Officials said the attacker arrived at the his ex-girlfriend’s home and found her in the back yard with a man. Detectives said he grabbed a knife and began stabbing her repeatedly and then chased the victim through her home. Her male companion was also stabbed in the hand when he tried to intervene, authorities said.

A woman who lives nearby told NBC 7/39 she heard the victim screaming and that the attacker stabbed the woman as many as 20 times. The neighbor also said the victim was a mother with two children who were home at the time of the attack.

Another neighbor, Charleton Lee, said he heard the commotion and came outside and found the two near the front door. He then said Malil eventually left the scene, and Lee put pressure on the woman’s wounds to slow the bleeding, as they waited for deputies and paramedics to arrive.
“Her chin was almost entirely cut off. She had a huge gash in her arm that looked like a really deep wound that was bleeding profusely,” Lee said. “She asked me to hold her and I could feel a lot of gashes in her back as well.”

The victim is in critical condition at Palomar Hospital, NBC 7/39 reported, but investigators believe she will survive her injuries. The sheriff’s fugitive task force was in Sherman Oaks, where Malil lives, but the arrest came in San Diego County.

According to the Web site IMDB.com, Malil first caught national attention as “Chad,” one of the Budweiser “What are you doing?!” guys in Anheuser-Busch’s inspired “Whassup?!” commercial spin-off.

Bill Cosby’s daughter speaks out

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Evin Cosby can relate to criticism Sen. Barack Obama has to face about being a member of the African-American elite.

“My own people used to say to me, ‘You speak like a white woman,’” said the youngest daughter of Bill and Camille Cosby at her chic new boutique, PB & Caviar, in Tribeca.

“What does that even mean, anyway? Everyone has their way of speaking and living their life. No one should be judging and assuming that because I’m black, I have to speak in that hip-hop way. That’s something I prefer not to do.”

The presidential candidate graduated from Harvard Law School - which some people use as an excuse to say he’s out of touch with the African-American poor — even though he was a community organizer for years.

“I always went to private schools - Bank Street elementary, Columbia Prep - so I was surrounded by people like me. Not so much African-American, but privileged. I don’t really have a connection to other people who didn’t have my lifestyle. But my dad is very into helping people from his own community in Philadelphia.”

The beauty also studied fashion design at F.I.T., and she’s put it to use advising customers at her comfy shop at 88 Thomas St., near the Odeon. Cosby carries such labels as Vanita Rose, Anna Sui, Sestra Moja and Interluid for women, as well as clothing for children - thus the “peanut butter & caviar” name.

Her comedian father encouraged her to open her own business, and it must be working. She opened the doors Thursday night and says she’s already sold 36 pairs of Heelarius high-heels for babies.

Singer, songwriter Isaac Hayes dies at age 65

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Isaac Hayes, the pioneering singer, songwriter and musician whose relentless “Theme From Shaft” won Academy and Grammy awards, died Sunday afternoon, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said. He was 65.

A family member found him unresponsive near a treadmill and he was pronounced dead an hour later at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, according to the sheriff’s office. The cause of death was not immediately known.

In the early 1970s, Hayes laid the groundwork for disco, for what became known as urban-contemporary music and for romantic crooners like Barry White. And he was rapping before there was rap.

His career hit another high in 1997 when he became the voice of Chef, the sensible school cook and devoted ladies man on the animated TV show “South Park.”

Steve Shular, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said authorities received a 911 call after Hayes’ wife and young son and his wife’s cousin returned home from the grocery store and found him collapsed in a downstairs bedroom. A sheriff’s deputy administered CPR until paramedics arrived.

“The treadmill was running but he was unresponsive lying on the floor,” Shular said.

The album “Hot Buttered Soul” made Hayes a star in 1969. His shaven head, gold chains and sunglasses gave him a compelling visual image.

“Hot Buttered Soul” was groundbreaking in several ways: He sang in a “cool” style unlike the usual histrionics of big-time soul singers. He prefaced the song with “raps,” and the numbers ran longer than three minutes with lush arrangements.

“Jocks would play it at night,” Hayes recalled in a 1999 Associated Press interview. “They could go to the bathroom, they could get a sandwich, or whatever.”

Next came “Theme From Shaft,” a No. 1 hit in 1971 from the film “Shaft” starring Richard Roundtree.

“That was like the shot heard round the world,” Hayes said in the 1999 interview.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1972, Hayes performed the song wearing an eye-popping amount of gold and received a standing ovation. TV Guide later chose it as No. 18 in its list of television’s 25 most memorable moments. He won an Academy Award for the song and was nominated for another one for the score. The song and score also won him two Grammys.

“The rappers have gone in and created a lot of hit music based upon my influence,” he said. “And they’ll tell you if you ask.”

Hayes was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

“I knew nothing about the business, or trends and things like that,” he said. “I think it was a matter of timing. I didn’t know what was unfolding.”

A self-taught musician, he was hired in 1964 by Stax Records of Memphis as a backup pianist, working as a session musician for Otis Redding and others. He also played saxophone.

He began writing songs, establishing a songwriting partnership with David Porter, and in the 1960s they wrote such hits for Sam and Dave as “Hold On, I’m Coming” and “Soul Man.”

All this led to his recording contract.

In 1972, he won another Grammy for his album “Black Moses” and earned a nickname he reluctantly embraced. Hayes composed film scores for “Tough Guys” and “Truck Turner” besides “Shaft.” He also did the song “Two Cool Guys” on the “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America” movie soundtrack in 1996.

Additionally, he was the voice of Nickelodeon’s “Nick at Nite” and had radio shows in New York City (1996 to 2002) and then in Memphis.

He was in several movies, including “It Could Happen to You” with Nicolas Cage, “Ninth Street” with Martin Sheen, “Reindeer Games” starring Ben Affleck and the blaxploitation parody “I’m Gonna Git You, Sucka.”

In the 1999 interview, Hayes described the South Park cook as “a person that speaks his mind; he’s sensitive enough to care for children; he’s wise enough to not be put into the ‘whack’ category like everybody else in town - and he l-o-o-o-o-ves the ladies.”

But Hayes angrily quit the show in 2006 after an episode mocked his Scientology religion. “There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins,” he said.

Co-creator creators Matt Stone responded that Hayes “has no problem - and he’s cashed plenty of checks - with our show making fun of Christians.” A subsequent episode of the show seemingly killed off the Chef character.

Hayes was born in 1942 in a tin shack in Covington, Tenn., about 40 miles north of Memphis. He was raised by his maternal grandparents after his mother died and his father took off when he was 1 1/2. The family moved to Memphis when he was 6.

Hayes wanted to be a doctor, but got redirected when he won a talent contest in ninth grade by singing Nat King Cole’s “Looking Back.”

He held down various low-paying jobs, including shining shoes on the legendary Beale Street in Memphis. He also played gigs in rural Southern juke joints where at times he had to hit the floor because someone began shooting.

’80s Hearthrob Rick Springfield Is Back on the Charts

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Eighties heartthrob Rick Springfield is back on the music scene with his highest charting album debut in more than 20 years.

Springfield’s 17th CD, Venus in Overdrive, came in at No. 28 on the Billboard charts this week. The Australian native, who found fame on General Hospital in 1980 and then followed withhis song hit “Jessie’s Girl” in 1981, has sold more than 19 million albums over his career.

“I haven’t been this excited about a new record since the ’80s,” Springfield tells PEOPLE. “I’m a loner in my private life, so the party animal only comes out on stage. That’s really my connection to people.”

Last year, the actor returned to General Hospital as Dr. Noah Drake, as well as Drake’s alter-ego, a rocker named Eli Love. Springfield performed his new single, “What’s Victoria’s Secret?” in character on the popular daytime daytime drama last week (See video below).

Springfield, 58, still tours on the weekends and says he hasn’t grown weary of his ’80s hits. “I liken them to favorite children. You never get tired of trotting out your kids. When they do well at something, you’re really proud of it,” says the rocker, who lives in Malibu with his wife Barbara. (His son Liam, 23, is a budding musician and actor, and son Josh, 19, attends the University of Southern California).

With his original fan base growing older, Springfield’s thrilled that he’s developing a new audience. “There are a lot of people who were fans when they were little kids. They’ve grown up and are bringing their kids, and women are bringing their husbands,” he says.

But the women still make their presence known. Thanks to the new single (whose title was inspired by the Victoria’s Secret lingerie chain), “I’m seeing more underwear on stage,” says Springfield.

Angie Everhart’s boyfriend was arrested Thursday in West Hollywood for investigation of spousal battery following an “incident” between the two that caused minor injuries, police say.

The unidentified man was booked by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on the misdemeanor charge.

Richard Dreyfuss sues father & uncle over loan

Source: www.celebritymound.com

Richard Dreyfuss is suing his father and uncle over an $870,000 loan he claims was never repaid. The lawsuit centers around a loan Dreyfuss claims he made to his relatives in 1984, who owned an interest in a downtown Los Angeles office building.

Roughly 24 years later, Dreyfuss says that loan - and interest - remains unpaid.

In his lawsuit filed Friday, Dreyfuss says his uncle, Gilbert Dreyfuss, has repeatedly refused to turn over records that would show its financial status.

Phone and e-mail messages left for Gilbert Dreyfuss were not immediately returned. A woman who answered the phone at an address registered to Dreyfuss’ father, Norman, said he could not be reached there.

Dreyfuss alleges his uncle and father, Norman Dreyfuss, have acted with “fraud” and “malice.” He is seeking a repayment of the loan, plus interest and punitive damages.

Ex-Bush aide claims `Swing Vote’ stolen from him

Source: www.celebritymound.com

A former presidential aide claims in a lawsuit that plot and marketing elements of the Kevin Costner and Kelsey Grammer movie “Swing Vote” were stolen from him.

Political commentator Bradley Blakeman, a former deputy assistant to President Bush for appointments and scheduling, said in the lawsuit filed Thursday that he gave a copyrighted screenplay entitled “Go November” to Grammer in 2006.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court on Long Island, claims Grammer agreed to develop the project and star as an incumbent Republican president but ended up portraying a similar role in “Swing Vote,” which was released Aug. 1.

A spokesman for Grammer and his production company, both named in the lawsuit, dismissed the claims as frivolous.

“I am not sure why Kelsey was even named in this suit,” spokesman Stan Rosenfield wrote in an e-mail. “He was an actor who signed on to the project AFTER the script was written.”

Blakeman’s lawsuit, however, claims the former “Cheers” and “Frasier” actor told him to consult a producer who later told him repeatedly that they were interviewing potential screenwriters and planned to go ahead with the project.

The lawsuit claims Blakeman’s screenplay shared a basic premise with “Swing Vote,” although it focused on an election hinging on multiple swing voters instead of one swing voter.

Blakeman claims “Swing Vote” incorporated other elements that he proposed, including: the timing of the film’s release, the use of real-life newscasters as actors playing themselves, the use of dirty tricks by both major political parties, marketing strategies and other plot points.

“Essentially, except for the character names and the relationship developed between the main characters played by defendant Kevin Costner and his daughter, the entire concept of ‘Swing Vote’ … was taken from the copyrighted work,” Blakeman’s lawsuit claims.

The Walt Disney Co. is named as a defendant in the suit, as is Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group Inc. and Disney division Touchstone Pictures, which distributed “Swing Vote.” Costner and the writers of “Swing Vote” also are among those named.

Spokeswomen for Disney and for distributor Treehouse Films said they hadn’t seen the lawsuit and wouldn’t comment. A spokesman for Costner, who helped finance the movie, said the “Dances with Wolves” and “Field of Dreams” actor was on vacation and couldn’t be reached.

Blakeman’s lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

Grammer was hospitalized in New York in late July after feeling faint, which Rosenfield said was possibly due to his heart medication. Grammer suffered a mild heart attack in late May.

Morgan Freeman was discharged Thursday from a Tennessee hospital after the Oscar-winning actor was treated for broken bones and other injuries sustained in a weekend car crash in Mississippi.

Kathy Stringer, a spokeswoman for the Regional Medical Center, said Freeman was discharged but gave no other details.

The 71-year-old actor was hospitalized after the accident Sunday left him with a broken arm, broken elbow and shoulder damage.

Demaris Meyer, 48, of Memphis, a passenger in the car driven by Freeman, was also injured in the crash.

“Access Hollywood” reported Wednesday that Freeman’s lawyer, Bill Luckett, said Freeman and his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee, had been separated since December and are getting a divorce. Luckett was also quoted in several newspapers Thursday, but did not give further details.

There was no answer Thursday at phone numbers for Luckett or for Freeman’s publicist, Donna Lee.

No divorce papers have been filed in Tallahatchie County where Freeman owns a home with Colley-Lee, according to Tallahatchie County Chancery Clerk Anita Mullen Greenwood.

Apatow’s ‘Pineapple Express’ is the toke of the town

Source: www.celebritymound.com

The marijuana-themed “Pineapple Express” may have everyone talking about toking up, but the movie’s stars say even they don’t understand the fascination with potheads.

“I don’t know why this is so big,” Seth Rogen told us at Tenjune’s after-party for the action flick. “Since doing this movie, a big debate has come up as to what is a pot movie. I think this is just a movie about guys who smoke weed.”

Co-star Danny McBride agreed. “We keep hearing the press refer to ‘Big Lebowski’ as a weed movie, which it’s not,” he said. “James Bond drinks martinis, but those aren’t alcohol movies.”

Meanwhile, producer Judd Apatow said he’s a fan of stoner flicks. “I like them because it’s an exaggerated way to do an idiot movie: people making terrible decisions with zero mental clarity … and that’s funny. If you see old Disney cartons, Dumbo is on mushrooms. It’s another variation on that.”

So do any of the film’s stars still toke up? Only Rogen and McBride confessed, with McBride priding himself on being able to fashion an apple into a bong. And Rogen says he can actually make the cross joint featured in the film. “It takes some practice,” he chuckled.

Meanwhile, James Franco would like you to know that the t-shirt he wears in the flick is not a stolen concept, as is currently being alleged.

Jerry Falwell Died Broke!

Despite raising an estimated hundreds of millions of dollars for the Christian right, televangelist Jerry Falwell died poor, a new book claims.

Falwell had taken a cut for his efforts, but lost most of his fortune to a doomed investment, a $20 million “Christian community,” according to investigative author Dirk Smillie in his new book “Falwell, Inc.”

The 140-acre property, atop Virginia’s Chandler Mountain, was to be called Liberty Village and was to have 1,135 units of housing, a clubhouse, movie theater, supermarket and chapel, and promised a faith-based lifestyle.

But now the site has become a local police training ground.

Falwell tried to sell the homes on his “Gospel Hour,” but sales didn’t keep up with construction, and the contractors sued. Falwell’s partner filed for bankrupty.

“Creating a ghost town for the local SWAT team to stage maneuvers wasn’t exactly what Falwell had in mind,” said Smillie, a Forbes reporter. “He was a bold entrepreneur, but he was a bad businessman. I don’t think his wife even let him have a checkbook. He raised hundreds of millions for conservative causes, but didn’t raise much for himself.”

While Falwell died last year, he left it to his son Jonathan Falwell to carry on his religious - and conservative - agenda. Dillie details a meeting the younger Falwell had with Rudy Giuliani, who was seeking his support for a presidential run.

Dillie claims the former mayor told Falwell, “I respect your values and your point of view. If I were President, you’d have an open door.”

Falwell wanted Giuliani to choose an ultraconservative VP, Dillie claims. “If you can bring someone like [Mike] Huckabee on board, it’ll signal you’re going to move a little to the right,” said Jonathan. “I believe my father would have endorsed Gov. Huckabee without hesitation.”

But he was wrong - shortly before his death, Falwell told Newt Gingrich that he would back him for the presidency.
